Looking at the Dockers tonight, they would have to be the worst side in the competition for years. I really can't see how they will win a game this year. Talk (from their supporters) about their "champion" midfield is absolute crap. With salary caps, drafts etc the competition was supposed to be more even, but we still have several strong teams at the top and a couple of shockers at the other end of the ladder. Can a new coach make enough of a difference ? I doubt it. I would like to hear from the Dockers supporters as to where their improvement is going to come from.

?

Seriously, I reckon we will go through the whole season winless, and it really hurts me to know this. You know what really pisses me off, its the supporters from other teams that come on to bigfooty and take the piss out of us as if we are not already feeling as low as we can. It is sickening and the people who do this (you know who you are) should be ashamed of yourselves you heartless f**kheads!

I don't think they played that bad. Gee, they gave the Saints a run for their money. Just give them a bit more time wth their new coach and we'll see what happens. I think a major reason for their lack of on field success has been due to their inability to keep good players in the past. They had Bell originally, then gave him away and paid heavy prices to get him back. Now thats pretty poor!

The dockers would be an ok side if they had an experienced (and good) CHB or CHF.

Its no surprise that Port always struggled in the forward line due to trying to develop a forward line based almost entirely around youth. It just wont click enough. Our backline has always been reasonably solid however, with Mead/Paxman being able to close down oppositions key forwards.

It will however take Freo another 3 years at least to have consistency with their 19-20 year old key position players, as they have no-one that can just play a no-fuss type game in those positions and hold it down.

Collingwood showed how it was done by bringing in Molloy and Wakelin at each end. That extra physically strong player at each end is what Freo lacks.

One smart trading period by Freo is all it needs to become competitive again. Whether they can pull it off or not is yet to be seen.

their disposal is just awful. they do have some good young players (pavlich, hasleby-if he can get his back right, longmuir X 2) and a few good experienced players (Modra, Carr, Bell, Fletcher) but they need a good 2-3 years.

I wouldn't say that we were the worst side for years, Fitzroy certainly played some shockers.

THe only way we can go is up. Next year we will have a new coach, new CEO, no 1 & 2 draft picks and hopefully we will becme a real club with members getting the vote.

We have a core nuclius of good players or players with potential these being Bell, Black Longmuir x 2, Michael, Haselby, Pavlich, Brown carr and cook.

we will have to build around these players and it is going to be a slow process. At this stage I could se us getting a concession pick in next years draft as well (as long as they dont change the rules)

i was cheering for the dockers, they almost had a chance... but i guess they jsut didn't want it enough... the trick to beating any team is to beleive you can and to want it more than they do, i think freo thought they could, they showed that in the 3rd quarter, they played quite well and made a pretty good comeback, but they didn't want it enugh an donce again stopped playing in the last quarter.
but they still have on emore chance of winning a game this season, when they play the Weagles again... but you gotta want it!!!

I honestly thought Freo would make an impact this year. The results have been so disappointing. Like Drummy said before he got the flick, what happens when they play a truly bad game? They regularly fall 'just short' of the mark, unlike the Eagles who have been pummled on several occaisions.

The only way they'll improve is if the recruiting ****-ups of previous seasons is not repeated at this years draft. The Dockers have a golden opportunity here.

It doesn't matter who they get in as coach if they can't get the right players.

Interesting footnote: Supporters were handing out flyers at the game last night in support of the club being owned by it's members rather than the WAFC, if the move succeeds it'll be a step in the right direction. The board will finally be accountable.

I really wanted Freo to win cause being a collingwood supporter i know what its like to go winless for alot of weeks and get all the **** hung on ya from other supporters. I cant see Fremantle winning a game this year but i really hope they do, i thought last night they had a chance and it wasnt a case of not wanting to win i think it was a case of the way they played the game when they knew they had a chance. At the end of the year i think freo should have a mass clean out of the club and start fresh.

Bell and waterhouse will be captains next year.

Even with Watermelon's injury record? Captains aren't much good unless they are on the field pretty regularly - just look at Cousins' influence as opposed to Kempy's this year...

Considering that West Coast and Freo are basically playing as bad as each other at this point in time, if they were to play each other next week, who do you think would win?
The last I saw West Coast play was against Carlton, where they lost by 119 points.... so on current form, I'd probably tip Freo.
