So if we win or lose you will show what a weak willed bandwagon jumper you are. Calling for CC'c head or calling him the greatest coach in AFL history. Thats my problem with supporters like yourself.
If I was one of those I would never started supporting the Dockers in the first place.

Stuff this for a joke... having to defend my team from its own supporters on its own board after a gutsy never-say-die win.
I’m not attacking the team, I just don’t think CC is the coach that can take us into the finals. I thought this was a Docker board where Docker supporters came to discuss OUR team.

If it sounds like I'm fired up... it's because I am. I left on Friday night with nothing but pride for my club so I have zero tolerance for snipers at present. How about getting behind the team in the closest run to the finals I can remember where so many can make/miss the 8.
Good to see, Now it’s my turn

At the end of 2001 when were looking for a new coach, there were 3 coaches names being thrown around. Neil Craig was the stand out candidate and was all but sign by the weagles until 6pr started a “get whoosha campaign” Whoosha was the next best candidate and we got the bobby prize. Funny how it was Schwab who drew up the selection criteria and the questions to be asked for the interviews.

My issue with your point of view is the evidence you cite is so one-eyed. You have an opinion and start lining up your facts to support that view. The comment about we won because of their injuries invalidates all your other arguments about CC's performance mid-season. Otherwise it's a double standard.

Mid-season I called for CC to go. I too have doubts about his ability. But the evidence is looking thin. If we win next week to hold down seventh place, we will also have finished a one-point loss away from fifth. And another two eight point losses away from a top 4 finish.

Fair call.

We won mid season @ Skilled Stadium, that was a week after we were belted by Hawthorn @ home and then belted again the following week by the lions @ home. Did we get any back for the cats game?

Round 9 22/05 Fremantle (70) v Hawthorn (124) Subiaco
Round 10 28/05 Geelong (82) v Fremantle (91) Skilled Stadium
Round 11 4/06 Fremantle (67) v Brisbane Lions (106)

We need to support our team and hope that we can beat the power and have a successful finals campaign. There will be plenty of time to disect the season when our year is over, which hopefully won't be for a few weeks yet.

Neill Craig was offered the job at west coast but wasn't prepared to relocate his family to Perth.

Good point! I sometimes wonder why we have such a fluctuating performance, some you can put down to injuries some are just unexplainable. E.g Richmond and those above. I look at the Bulldogs and see what they're achieving - sure they've had enough priority picks etc recently but they have turned their season around this year, as too Adelaide.

I admit I wonder whether CC is the one to take us to the next level or if someone else would be better. Its a unenviable position the Colonel and the board have. But at the end of day coaches are a lottery and we have a window of opportunity closing rapidly, Pav out of contract 2007 we cant afford errors. Who out there could make the difference, changes would basically result in a loss of a couple seasons before you knew whether it was a successful change - then if it wasnt you'd have Tico, Jarman whiteanting again and us all discussing where to go - Pav out of contract too !!

Thanks for the link error404. It's a shame Schwabby didn't offer a 3 year deal in 2001 instead of in February 2005.

This sentence lifted from the article just about sums it up.

Here's how it is believed events unfolded back in October, 2001.

In depth opinion that has no factual basis.

Funny how when writing something that will paint Fremantle Football Club in an unsatifactory light people never let the facts get in the way of a good story.

What should have been written:
Twice sacked from 2 other clubs want his best mate over in the west to back him up. does his first act of treachery by not following the boards wishes by delaying negotiations so that the deal falls over .
Denial is not a river in Egypt.

most of us have 20/20 vision when attached to hindsight. Couple that with white ant jounalism, bring in the three sporting brothers Coulda, Shoulda and Woulda who belong to a club that hasnt met expectations and you get more fodder for the restless and unhappy to graze on.

How about the back page of The West's lift out today. Getting Fremantle supporters to write into the paper so the paper can continue their attack on our Club. The season is over and there is no let up.

I have no problem with members and supporters being dissapointed and looking for reasons but I dont like stirring from outside sources just to make good press.

It's going to be a long summer. Again :(

The sequence of events is how I recall it happened though dugrene. Freo narrow it down to Worsfold and Connolly with Worsfold slightly infront (I didn't know that Worsfold was actually offered a contract). Craig knocks back wet toast because he doesn't want to relocate his family to Perth. The WAFC inform the eagles that their favourite son is likely to get the Freo job. The eagles panic and decide they better get Worsfold in for another interview. Eagles appoint Worsfold. Schwabby gets his man.

Unfortunately over the first 11 seasons of our football club we have supplied journos with plenty of ammunition to shoot back at us. To the wests credit, they printed both positive and negative letters. Giving both sides of the argument is very unusual for our daily paper.

Agreed dominguez the events as written that led to CC being appointed are probably as close to the truth as we'll ever get I accept that, but it doesnt mean I agree with the conclusion that appointing CC was the wrong decision.

The comparison between the two clubs since the appointment of both coaches, to me can be measured (to use a cliche) in millimeters even though it looks like it could be measured in light years. Now we have one club approaching a GF appearance the other consigned to the looking at next year.

It could be so different.

Last year losing the last 4 games of 2004. Was a bit like Hewson losing the unlosable election. IMO not closing down Rocca last year. Losing. Not to mention the hard slog at Skilled then back for a Derby. I said to one of my work mates last year. "We should send our reserve side over to skilled keep our guns for the Derby" The pies game ????.

What then transpired was our worst nightmare. Us out of the eight and our arrogant rivals in.

This year..... well we all have our interpretations of our performances. We should have done better no doubt. As ThePope said we are 1 point out of the eight.

Then we watch with dismay as JW has the midas touch, great fixture, other clubs off the boil, critical decisions all through the year that contibuted to some unwarranted wins. Make our coach and admin look 2nd rate.

With all things considered a coach and administration can put together a good plan, the right strategy then hope for that ounce of luck. If you dont get the luck then plans and strategy are down the gurgler.

The organisation that has a bit of luck are the winners.

So i'm going to hang, in keep the faith, try to promote the positives and hope like hell this time next year we in finals mode.

You make some good points there dugrene and we certainly didn't have much luck this year. I also think that you can make your own luck at times. Teams that are well drilled and well coached often win the close games. Having structures in place, having fresh legs (which with the amount of quality midfielders the egos have they will always do well in this area), making a match up change when the game is in the balance can all contribute to getting you over the line. That's not to say the mob up the road will win most of their close games next season. I hope to god they don't.
