They ran out of gas. I know it's a no-excuses footy club now, so it is quite encouraging to see them playing with a lot of heart to the end. Looking forward to next year!

Great effort boys, in the end the travel and the short turnarounds really showed up our fitness. Never gave up and made a real game of it. Thanks for a great year, look forward to the next couple of years with great anticipation.
To the Geelong loser, Cheshire Cat - all I hear is BOO HOO HOO for last week. Go back to your own board. the majority of the Geelong supporters were very gracious in defeat, you are just an oxygen thief. LOSER.

Who cares what some cats fan thinks. They are out of the finals race: So are we now.

The fact is we lost. I'm not happy, neither, I'm sure, is the team, or the coach we hired to bring a winning culture. Winning cultures do not accept failure. We should not be pleased with what happened tonight.

Bring on next year. Tonight was a disaster. The only positive is we did not give up.

I doubt there is Docker fan anywhere who is not gutted by tonight's loss, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't acknowledge their efforts. They played their hearts out and fell short. They will learn from that and be hungrier next year.

Again, well done boys.

It would have been a monumental effort to make the final 4 coming from seventh spot. So many positives to focus on. New coach and new gameplan that was learned and used efficiently within half a year, 9 out of last 10 games won to storm into the finals, beating a hardened finals team at the G which is awesome for the younger boys to build upon. I could go on & on, this is not the Fremantle team of old. You will build upon this and continue to be a very good side over the next few years. I dare say Patterson's is now the most feared stadium in the country. Good luck to the rest of the comp getting out alive over the next few years. :)

Bad luck on tonight's result but i would be holding my head pretty high right now if i was a Docker supporter.

Derby's are going to be a freaking nightmare for the next few years.

You kids fought valiantly last week, keep plugging away and you will get there eventually. If you fight it out long enough, your boys might sneak through for a final against us before you die.

Not at all. It reflected our effort

I'm not dissing our effort, but they played all over us, even at half time an objective observer would say they were ahead of us except on the scoreboard. For some reason they're just a team that lines up well against us. But we have plenty of positives to take out of it, and also plenty to think about for improvement next year

Match up well when we have AA chb out, and AA ff crocked.
If it wasn't a final, I doubt Pav would've played.

What was it like watching Nick Davis single handedly destroy your ****ing team in the 4th QTR of a prelim?

What was it like being spreadeagled and split in half byt Stuey "Jabba" Dew in 2008?

How about 2010?

Not a fan? Hmmmmmm, yeah, in that case, 2012 probably wouldn't tickle your fancy either.

Enjoy your holiday, scrub. Geelong wasn't even as good as Brisbane circa early 2k.

Ibbotson's squib and that turnover by Pearce in the last were critical. A bit of composure there by Clancee. No need to rush so much. 7 points up.

And how the **** was walker allowed to run 25 meters to get that ball to Tippett?

Agree on all of this. There were 2 other moments, I think Duffield and McPhee, where they just misjudged the ball and stood flat footed instead of meeting the ball. Could have got there before Adelaide players who marked and then goaled.

The Clancee turnover was a game changer. I could see what he was thinking, but then when he turned to play on there was obviously nothing to kick to upfield, except a dinky kick to Pav. He had already played on, so had to get rid of the ball. Needed that composure to realise that since we had flooded back, we would have had nobody down the ground, and just held his ground without playing on.

Being a Freo supporter in Adelaide it was amusing seeing them all come out of the woodwork with the "FK YEAH CROWS!!!" on Facebook. At least my immediate family were humble somewhat.

Even seasoned vets like Thommo were fumbling handballs a little leaguer could take. The pressure was epic tonight.

Skill errors in this sort of game don't bother me in the slightest, it's part of the pressure. Not being able to hold your bottle when you've got a couple of metres of space, or squib ****ing attempts at the contest on the other hand..............

Why am I not surprised that guys like MJ and Duddfield put in that sort of composed and physical performance tonight. Duddfield directly cost us at least 3 goals in the first half, purely from pea heart squib efforts.

How he can walk off the ground at the end of a game and look blokes like Ballas, deBoer, Clancee and deBoer in the eye is beyond me. I cannot comprehend how our players could head in to that sort of competitive arena, knowing you can't trust the bloke who has your back.

Very catch 22 sitaution at the moment. Proud of the boys, can see the improvement under Ross as a team and individuals but freaking hell 29 up in the second and to lose it just pisses me off. When Walker kicked that goal on half time I got worried, Silvangi looked like a man who had just had his spirit crushed.

Expecting a hell of a lot more next year, have faith in the new regime.

Bottom line is you need to be in the Top 4 to have any chance, especially for us/West Coast due to the travel factor, which cannot be underestimated.

That was heart wrenching. A touch less fatigue, a bit more poise here and there, maybe, just maybe, Keps playing instead of Clarke. Who knows? We could have got up and it would have been f**king incredible to do so and massively against the odds all considered.

When fatigue started to set in, Adelaide held their structures much better (they are actually a very organised side) and we didn't. Things really had to fall our way for us to pinch it and they just didn't. Some unlucky calls late (we had them early its true), 'rookie' mistakes all over the place. A half paced Pav ... just too much of a hill to climb.

I'll wear that result and finish the season with a smile, but it will quickly turn into a frown if they players don't learn from it and hit the PS hard to make sure we have a real shot at top 4.

If that same game with the same intensity had been played at Subi, we would have won. I'm convinced of that.

I felt we lost it when Mayne kicked a behind.

I know that seems like jest considering he is so amazing, but he did miss a shot to kick 4 goals into the 2nd and from then went quiet 2 quarters.

The answer to why Mayne was the target must been to ease off pressure on Pav carrying us/to nurse his soreness in case we got through.

I feel like the players seemed too desperate. The constant lunge at the ball meant they went to ground and exposed us to more desperation which ran us ragged contest to contest. Adelaide stayed vertical.

It's not basic fitness drop off, but choices in the game. The choice to lunge at a contest meant that half the time they went to ground it caused overlaps that meant running duties of others were exponentially increased each contest. The choice to not act so desperate may have corralled the turnover rate and the Adelaide forward movement.

======

A lot to that idea of touching/holding our hands and arms before we took possession too. Cheap pressure strat. as opposed to the good quality way where the second a player has the ball you wrap them up with closing run choking clean disposal.

Needs moar top 4 next year :)
