Interesting that the AFL felt the need to release a statement about the condition of the stadium and it's apparent "readiness" for one soccer and 2 AFL games this weekend.

The ground will not be at its peak in regards to its visual presentation, after the concert stage and protection matting areas were removed, but the AFL’s turf consultants have reported on the stadium surface and are happy for the matches to proceed.

Soccer starts at 7.30, will watch Fox just to see how the ground looks.

If one of our players goes down with a serious knee injury I won't be happy. The ground is crap but because it's still cricket season we can't swap the games to the G. The sh!t will hit the fan if a star player gets hurt.

If I feel like seeing a game played at a tempo that makes the Sydney Swans look like Geelong, I'll tune in to the A-League tonight. If I'm lucky, I might see a few completed passes.

I remember a couple weeks ago at Victory vs Glory the ground was horrible. That was after that NYE's Sensation thing but even though it was 3 or so weeks after that the ground had to be filled with sand. They nearly cancelled the game that night so I can't imagine the ground being in good condition for tomorrow.

The ground is in ABSOLUTE SHITHOUSE CONDITION.

The AFL are kidding themselves, just had a look at Foxtel and the A-League preview, and there are patches that can only be described as "bare" that stretch for 25-30m down one end of the ground.

Then in some areas that look ok, there are 1m x 1m bare patches that seem like where posts had been installed for the concerts.

It looks terrible basically, and I'm sure someone will post pics of it up soon on some site.

Gratz Collo, great stadium, better then the MCG.:thumbsd::p

It's funny, we talk about winning so we don't have to play on crappy country grounds. well, they're a crap load better than what etihad is serving up.

Should call the afl and soccer game off. Can they get sued for OH&S? ****ing joke. Not happy at all :( We should rest all our star players don't risk them at all.but we won't have any players to play as we have 40 star players :p:D

Turf is shithouse, stadium is shithouse

also go victory and MRDJA!!!!!!!!!!!

The ground does look shithouse, the people on this thread aren't exagerrating. It's the worse it's ever been IMO.

As far as Victory goes I'm thinking of backing Heart next year. However Carlos is a bit of a cult hero with me. I'll see who they sign.

El Zorro!!!!! 2-nil

And jabso I'm a victory fan but no die hard will certainly watch heart with some interest.

that stupid Aloisi man I hate him.

Bad defending, surprised aloisi was paid it.

And I know it sounds like an over reaction, but how any sport even at amateur level is allowed on this ground currently really surprises me

Me and my mates are all in for the Heart next year - We never really got on board with the Victory, and so we're all prepared to get on board with the Heart from day one.

Aloisi, Skoko, Bolton, Sarkies... Potentially Simon Colosimo as well - Should be some hell of an inaugral squad.

If it was an amateur ground, there is no way a game would be allowed to be played there. It's just an injury waiting to happen. I don't even know why the AFL would think that the Telstra Dome would be fit just 4 days after the AC DC concerts.

I just hope for both teams sakes that they get out of the game injury-free.

Obviously they'll have to adjust the ground tonight and tomorrow to transform it from Soccer to AFL, hopefully by some miracle it turns out to be okay.

I walked on the ground after the turf protection was lifted after the Sensation event and it was terrible yet they were saying it was "playable".

Fingers crossed for no injuries and a miracle.

Aloisi? Really? I don't like him.

I like the sound of this Richard Porta (born in Australia but moved to Uruaguay at 1 years old, hasn't been back since) and the coaching staff looks very highly rated with the manager actually being the caretaker manager of Ajax in 2009.

This isn't that great a goal (just a good finish) from Porta but the commentary is hilarious. PORTAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaa oooooo GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL REEEVER! *Spanish stuff* RICHARD PORTAAAAAAAAA

Yeah I'm jumping on the Heart bandwagon.

Never got into Victory and being new, Heart will have plenty of seats available in that rectangular stadium.

Put me down as another future Heart supporter. I've been to two Victory games, both through being polite to the in-laws, an on both occasions sat through a mind-numbing encounter in which the Victory failed to register on the scoreboard.

If Heart manage to play with any heart, I'll be right behind them.

On the topic of the ground condition... that's an absolute disgrace and they'd better have it ready for the first of our two away games to the Doggies starting round 1.

what did i say about Mrdja? :D

i hope Syndey rip you a new arseh*le in game 2 though :thumbsu:

Scored more goals this finals series then Adelaide fc
and gained more red cards too :(
