Thanks for the recommendation nicky.

Seems to be many crazy raw food vegans out there trying to peddle their fancy new age products which seems to just confuse many people about what is healthy.

Watch out for David Wolfe, not everything he says is serious.

most of my list will be physics/cosmology/space stuff:
BBC - Time
The human body
any of the life collection (there are about 10 series in total)
The Universe (TV series)
Atom
what is one degree
the brain a secret history

basically, hit up mvgroup.org for the motherload of torrents

Don't be so quick to dismiss wholefood diet. A high processed food diet is causing all the metabolic diseases.

Yes nicky I would agree, I've watched many hours of stuff trying to figure out what the deal was with healthy eating.

Watch some durianriders on youtube. He's a riot.

I actually don't mind Daniel Vitalis. He's a reformed raw food nut job now.

This article is now very famous. It's highly thought provoking on the whole issue of going vegan. It really helps to see the experiences he went through to get where he is today.

About to start downloading the Interrupters. Done by Steve James - Hoop Dreams, No Crossover, and judging by the trailer it looks like he's made another gem.

decent black metal doco.

and this one too is nice. gives an insight into how it all began.

I think you would guess that I am a fan of 'Until the light takes us', a must for any heavy music following, and also explores issues with Norwegian culture and history, and certain peoples struggles against Christianity.

I can also reccomend 'True Norwegian Black Metal', a documentary made by VBS TV, (check out their site for other awesome stories), exploring the black metal scene and unprecedented access to the Notorious Black Metal vocalist Gael.

Here is one for thje guys, a documentary called
'Raving in the Black Sea', a VICE documentary report on a month long rave held on a nuclear coastal site in Ukraine - Kazantip.

http://www.vice.com/music-world/raving-in-the-black-sea

Description below:

VBS visits the Republic of Kazantip, an annual month-long rave/orgy on the southern coast of the Ukraine. Ravers are called citizens, visas are required for entry, and there is even a Minister of Foreign Affairs. The whole scene is trapped somewhere in the 90s with its platform shoes, pink dreadlocks, and energy drinks. Join VBS as we head to the Black Sea coast for the closing party and make friends with the luminaries of Russian criminal society.

My 3c -

King of Kong is absolute GOLD. I haven't hated someone as much as I hate that gutleess twerp Billy Mitchell in a looooong time.

Also check out IOUSA - About the predicted colapse of the US economy due to the massive rise in social security costs.

Another good one is "The Lightbulb Conspiracy" It takes a look at the first companies to start producing goods with flaws, specifically designed to force consumers into buying replacements/upgrades.

Sounds intriguing. I'll check that out.

Don't know if you would be able to download them, but the ABC doco series 'Cricket in the 70s' and 'Cricket in the 80s' are well worth checking out.

Makes me so so so so so glad to live in this country. I think that alot of people don't realise just how lucky we are to have the Medicare system.

I read somewhere if America didn't go into Iraq the same money would have provided ever American with completely comprehensive health care (on the state) for 50 years. I'll try to dig out a source, again off memory.

Winnebago Man(The Angriest Man on Earth)

Brilliant, funny and quite moving at the same time.

It's great, isn't it? I caught it on ABC2 a year or so back late at night. How complex and weird was the bloke?

Probably the same time I saw it. He was a very complex character indeed.

ABC2 is a good source for docos especially late in the evening. In the 4 weeks leading up to Xmas I was watching late on Wednesday nights "Beyond Boundaries - Across the Andes". The story of 10 British kids average age of 18 all with various disabilities trying to make the 400km journey across the Andes to the Pacific Ocean. Brilliant viewing and the best bit no shitty commercial breaks.

I watched Forks Over Knives.

Starts off gentle and starts ramming down The China Study down your throat.

Not really sure what the message is.

Go vegan or die of cancer?

I think it's a bit heavy on the plant based diet stuff and doesn't try to enter into the other side of the argument.

Many people are so awesomely healthy when they go vegan because they have reserves of animal based nutrients stored up. This can last years (decades even) before their heath starts to go the other direction.

High meat intake causing cancer? Well the evidence is there.

This doesn't mean you can make the leap straight to a 0% animal cholesterol diet. Where's the science in that?
