I find it amusing that the Carlton boys haven't learned their lessons from 2005, and to a lesser extent, Geelong's superior performance in last years NAB Cup.

So the question is, does anyone else take great enjoyment seeing Carlton fans getting their hopes up by winning the pre-season comp, and then watching it end in tears after round 22?

I sure do. May the heartbreak continue:thumbsu: :)

I love the infighting at the end of the year from carlton. coups and backstabbing:D and them telling each other we must get better when all they do is get worse. All it does is bring the once proud club of carlton closer to foreclosure:D or merging with a country team from tasmania to become the two headed blue boys:p hahaha may your team die with some dignity:thumbsu:

Will you be shooting your gargantuan mouths off in the season proper if we beat you?
In the meantime we'll enjoy winning a game in front of a decent crowd ,and against a decent opponent with credible pressure during the game AND collecting a bit of cash to chip away at our debt.
How did you two go the last month? Intra-club hitout was it??

ok i wasn't going to respond but ah well i'm only human. first its was funnier watching geelong finish outside the eight when cats supporters genuinely thought they were a chance of a second flag in a million years (ok slightly exagerating). well we all saw how that planned out didn't we now. as for tears we have two murphy and gibbs, pretty good prizes for finishing last huh? as for our tassie bashing friend hmm...........

carry on

J-mac the club is still in debt and the Pres. has gone on record as saying he will not simply wipe the debt.
The guy is worth billions (that's with a 'b' the letter after 'a'),wouldn't he have done it by now instead of accruing interest on the debt??

Read a paper to see your sugar daddy handing money out to prop up a dieing club it's pathetic:thumbsdown:
Richard Pratt has not handed out any money to the Carlton Football Club yet apart from some cash for some facility upgrades. Its called using contacts to build a stronger club- not using contacts to build a drug-f**ked club as in your case.

Firstly it was the media who were talking up the Cats last year, so you lose on that round. And you couldn't really blame them, the way the Cats demolished their opposition, and were superior in everyway of course we would be flag favorites. But that was the media, not Geelong supporters themselves.

Besides last year was just a formality, as we were building to this year, 2007.

Secondly, who did better out of the draft?? According to Inside Football we scored a A+, easily the best team to do the best in the draft!
Congratulations, you have Gibbs and Murphy, but ill ask you this question, what has Marc Murphy done at your club since been recruited? And Gibbs will take time to prosper, so im predicting another spoon for Lygon st. this year.

Ill continue to look at my clubs sublime forward line, a forward line that looks to the future, not too the past like Carlton:thumbsdown: Players like Chapman, Kelly, S. Johnson, Ottens, G. Ablett, N. Ablett, plus a superior backline, Scarlet, Hunt, Harley, Enright and Egan:thumbsu:

Good luck this year though:thumbsdown:

It's funny a Geelong fan has posted this thread... every year they get their hopes up pre-season, "this will be the year we finally win one of those flag things everybody has been talking about" yet every year it ends in the same old heartbreak and disappointment.

then firstly you might be a minority then. i know a few cats fans who had it in their heads that the pre-final loss to sydney would be quickly forgotten and a flag was next on the agenda. but you know best.

how is our forward line not looking to the future? fevola, whitnall, fisher, betts, Josh kennedy blues style, kouta is getting a tad old so he is the only one in the past department (not past it by a long way). do we have a gary ablett? no, not many teams have that type of player with that level of class. as for our backlne. it hasn't been the same since silvagni and co retired but it's getting better even.

as for the draft bit. murphs is a gun even blind freddy could see that he has skill and poise beyond his years, and yes it looks like gibbs might take a year or two to explode. as for our others, just cause you get and A+. i bet essendon wouldn't have got and A+ when they got hird at 46 or whatever he wen't at. so that is irelevent.

but same to you good luck

A Geelong supporter bagging Carlton for getting ahead of themselves after winning the NAB cup would be like me bagging Adelaide for choking in a Prelim final last year.

I dont think Carlton are getting their hopes up at all - I believe they are optimistic (and why shouldnt they be) but they have learned their lesson from 2005 and are not getting carried away with themselves.

I think their approach to this years NAB cup has been excellent.

^what he said.. the lid is being kept well and truly on, as it should.

And NitWit, you might wanna stop questioning Murphy's value if you're trying to form an argument against Carlton or their recruiting.. coz using that example makes you look pretty stupid ;)
