..........what our final membership tally is for this year? I don't think we got anywhere near our 40,000 target. Hopefully we got close to 35,000.

It was about 31,000 I think.

We lost about 1500 members from Tasmania, which was as expected.

So if you included those, we were slightly up on last year, but not much.

Hard to attract huge numbers when you a poor start to the season though, like the Saints did this year.

Yep. 40k was really unrealistic! The saints do really well to get the numbers it does. They aren't a club thats had a lot of success, so i feel 31k is a really good job (and they weren't firing this year) A few extra wins at the start of the season would of boosted numbers further, unfortunley, that didn't happen.

Yeah, 31k is a good result - Archie was dreaming if he thought he'd get 40k. I think a lot of former members were turned off by the whole firing of GT thing - whether it was right or wrong, it just reeked of the nasty stuff at the club from days gone by, and left a bad taste in the odd '06 member's mouth. This was, in a sense, always going to be a rebuilding year for the Saints membership.

One interesting thing is the potential for members if we move to Casey. Casey has a growing population, and we could become the only footy club with any link to them - that makes for some nice boosts to numbers. And I don't think we'd lose many Moorabinites in the process either. Thoughts?

Casey is AFL heartland. I would of thought everyone in Melbourne who is going to follow AFL would already have a team by now. People in Melbourne ussually don't select the AFL team they support by the location (thats more relevant for the swans, lions, geelong, other interstate teams.
