Does benny get another year?

I'm going to leave it to performance. If Benny is performing plenty of pressure acts, kicking a goal or two a game and not burning the football he earns his spot. If he isn't then unfortunately it's best to go young and save some cap space.

Give it a rest. Fun to have a whipping boy for those who enjoy it but point the finger at the whole bloody team. McGlynn was poor but he kept trying disposal was rubbish but nearly every kick to him was just as poor. Papley did well in the first but was missing pretty much the rest of the game too. Whole team was off didn't handle finals pressure footy where free kicks don't get paid.

Can i second, third, fourth and fifth that!
Great servant McGlynn but major liability tonight and any game this season that hasn't involved witches hats for an opposition.

Problem was he wasn't the only one. At least we have an option to end his career if we have the courage to do so

He certainly wasn't the only one whose decision making and disposal skills were subpar today. Taking nothing away from GWS who were phenomenal despite their innaccuracy. McGlynn cannot play tall like other small forwards can (e.g. Puopulo, Rioli) and does not bring the ball when out of position to ground to create a chance for other players. His pressure around the ball is nowhere near what it was when he first came from Hawthorn and gets caught out of position too frequently. I don't think he adds anything anymore as his disposal skills by foot are atrocious so would not renew his contract at end of 2016.

I do feel for him after his best season in 2012 and missing out on the Grand Final win, but there is no sympathy in footy and if you aren't up to AFL standard then time to let someone else have a crack. Sad to say he has played his last game for the club in my opinion.

But hard to judge when majority of the team were poor today.

I don't think he deserves to be the whipping boy for today's game, but he really didn't perform well enough at all to warrant a spot on the list next year. I think he might be at risk of falling out of the team for next week's crunch match as well. Big thanks to him for all his service to the club (which I know sounds sarcastic, but it's not!), but I think it's come to an end.

I think, and hope, that McGlynn has has played his last game for us. I've always been a big fan of his (up until the 2014 GF that is).

Very much this. Wasn't happy he got a gig for Richmond game let alone today

Once again he kicked a clutch goal as he always seems to do (3rd quarter) the team didn't feed off that minor momentum. I would give him another shot based on him being able to do that and ability to find Franklin on a lead with a short kick after gut running.
he wasn't the worst today.

Didn't really do himself any favours. The goal was a must, and as he usually does, took his opportunity. But around the ground he seemed off the pace at times, but he wasn't alone so can't hang it all on him.

Will need to play a blinder in what remains of our season if he's to get another year imo. He's purely depth atm, and you'd think some of the younger players will take the step over the preseason

I think if you leave out the ridiculous notion of deciding based on either the Richmond game or yesterday's game and take the entire season into account then no, he doesn't go on next year unless we're seriously concerned about depth.

The poor bugger had to try and chase down a loose man on the wing because someone else was too lazy/buggered to go (Naismith) he looked poor then as he was spent.

He did a courageous mark, then kicked across goal and cost us. His kicks sometimes were off and then some were good linking play, as always he works better with Franklin than Papley seems to understand him better. But I have to concede that his almost game (if he had of hit targets or players didn't kick to his feet or handball behind him) for a guy on the cusp puts him in the firing line for selection and that may be the last we see in the Swans colours. I personally hope he gets a chance against the Crows but acknowledge now that I'm probably rightly in the minority.

That was horrible to watch at the ground. Naismith just couldn't go any further and McGlynn didn't realise early enough (not his fault), but it lead to a mark inside 50 and a goal (I think). I mentioned earlier in the year that the biggest concern for Naismith was his fitness and he was unfortunately shown up a little, especially with Tippett operating well below 100%.

Everything you said he's been bloody awful at all year. The only thing he's been any good at is kicking goals inside the F50.

Which may be enough to keep his spot and if so he would be lucky due to the other forced outs. If so then there is yet another chance to change your own destiny.

Think Benny will be cut to free up much needed cap space and to free up a spot for a younger player. Might be kept as depth on the rookie list which seems a popular way by clubs nowadays.

Yet another interesting trade period looms.
