Not that I want to be critical. And I've had a few pints mind you. However, does it seem to you all, as it does to me, that Bluey has decided of his own to appoint a moderator for the Lions board? Similarly, this decision seems to come straight behind the decision not to sanction a Roys board.

Danni is an excellent choice mind you, however, was this just an autocratic decision, or something that was gauged on opinions aired on this forum?

It kinda irks me a bit - also, when you consider that PUBLIC OPINION also called for a ROYS BOARD ON BIGFOOTY.

After all, while Bluey does a great job as 'head moderator', it is the contributors who make this site great.

I can only say that a Roys page would make this site even better (more contributors, etc.).

Then again, should we all be empathising with Bluey in view of all the complaints he has already received about a Roys board (mind you, probably all 50 of them have come from the same one or two people with 20 different e-mail addresses)?

Danni, hope you do well as the moderator. IMO, you should do something about the number of nonsense posts on this board. I'm not one to legislate against what people can or can't post, however, when extreme goes to extreme, something has to be done (thus my suggestion for a moderator in the first place).

Danni, that's what I was asking, I didn't know that people had complained about it, so I was asking about it.

Acuguy, I didn't realise that the 'Brisbane Bears Ltd'. with the same board of directors that they had in 1996 still existed seperately from the Brisbane Lions and sponsored other football sides. Do the Brisbane Bears Ltd. have their own social club and base, as FFC Ltd. currently do? How many members do the Brisbane Bears Ltd. have currently anyway? Are they still in Brisbane?

Can you explain why three Brisbane Lions directors, two of them Victorian directors, recently attended a Fitzroy Football Club Ltd. function as guests and invitees of the Fitzroy Football Club? The 'Back to Fitzroy Day', the 'Fitzroy Foundation Dinner' have seen Brisbane Lions directors there. I wonder if the current Brisbane Bears directors invite any of the current Brisbane Lions directors to their functions. Perhaps you could enlighten us!

If this state of affairs does in fact exist in the case of the Brisbane Bears then PERHAPS the Brisbane Bears SHOULD have their own board seperate from the Brisbane Lions, as a former member of the AFL for 10 years. Some unkind people argue that the Brisbane Lions are merely the Brisbane Bears with a change of emblem and a dash of blue to their jumper. They argue that they still are the same company, they still play out of the same city, at the same ground and still have the same amount of games as the Bears did. However we both know that isn't as simple as that, don't we.........? ;-)

There would be no point having a seperate Fitzroy board, if the FFC did not currently exist. However it does and as the FFC was a member of the VFL/AFL for 100 years, (compared to University's 6 years or Hawthorn's, North Melbourne's and Western Bulldogs 80 years), some of their supporters on these boards believe that having a seperate board is more than justified. There's no doubt, despite what some ignorant posters have posted elsewhere on these boards there are very important and strong connections between the Brisbane Lions and Fitzroy due to the merger of the club operations, connections which I personally hope become much stronger. Ideally I'd like to see them remain as seperate entities, but work together to foster Lions membership in Victoria, establish a stand-alone team in the VFL (VFA) called Fitzroy, reciprocal membership between the VFL and AFL sides...in fact adopting a few of the ideas Olmy suggested in another thread....all very good ideas.

Actually I'm ambivalent about a Fitzroy board being set up. The main reason it should be set up is that Fitzroy people can talk about topics that probably have little or no interest to the majority of the brisbane Lions people who come from the Bears side of the family and who happen to be in the large majority. My main fear is that a Fitzroy board will quickly turn into a bitch session about how the Bears did this or did that to Fitzroy which in my opinion is absolute garbage.

However the argument if you set up a Fitzroy board, then you should set up a Brisbane Bears board doesn't really wash. Like it or not Fitzroy is STILL a seperate entity from the Brisbane Lions and the Brisbane Bears are not.

Indeed with regard to the merger that's the main problem!

I said something similar a while ago on the main board when this issue came up. I mean, if people see it as 'fairer' if the Bears people have their own board too, then I am all for it, totally. But yeah. There are Fitzroy issues that are seperate to the Brisbane Lions that deserve their own forum. I also think it would REALLY help the confusion about it, all the Fitzroy topics would be seperate, so people glancing on here wouldn't get all confused about what our identity actually is, which as we all know still happens. And, as Roylion said, and others too, it would stop pissing people off about Fitzroy topics being posted here or on the main board, it always starts arguments sadly. AND it would, I believe, help people learn more about the Fitzroy Football Club and the ways the name is continuing etc, coz the topics would be simply Fitzroy ones. But no bitching about the Bears, coz there's nothing to bitch about, that's not part of it at all.
