There aren't even 8 currently employed head recruiters who have created premiership lists.

Blaming Hine's recruiting for our decline is extremely narrow minded as doesn't take in to account several circumstances that have led to missing finals for the past two years. People keep moaning about how we missed Cripps, but hell, the guy who recruited him was also responsible for some god awful picks too, so much so that he was replaced this year.

The best drafters in the league are Wells, Hine, Rendell and Dalrymple, with Wright behind those four in drafting, but a clear number 1 in trading in talent.

I don't think you can call Rendell top 4 when he's not the top guy and has a checkered history. There is someone living on past glories.

Fair call, although his 'checkered history' has zilch to do with his quality as a recruiter.

I agree, If Pendlebury wasn't picked however...

Never blamed Hine.

He was just outside the top 10.. pick 29 is the frickin wilderness and Langdon came from the clouds
Dan Hannerbury > Danye Beams.
Better bloke too. Had Hine taken his quality as person over Beams there would be less distribution to the team in recent years too.

You can't even spell his name.. let alone acknowledge his 'substance' problems of late

And stop trying to bullshit us you believe what you type.. you just want a small child's negative attention.. you never grew up and developed positive ways of gaining respect

Beams is a lot more than good and TG doesn't really believe Hine is outside the top 8 recruiters in the league he just wants attention like a small child

Use what ever word you want to use to describe Beams, it doesn't because Penldebury is allot better.

There's every chance we could have won a premiership with another player aside from Pendlebury, and the possibility said player could have become a star in our development system anyway.

Pendlebury isn't the primary reason that Hine is regarded so highly.

Of course there is every chance, its that chance is allot less.

Very subjective given their careers have been very similar thus far. The only thing Hannebery has over Beams in terms of career accolades is a second AA selection, which Beams would certainly have received this year if he hadn't missed the last two months of the season injured.

Dayne Beams is a gun player, no doubt for me. He has exceptional hand-eye skills, knows how to find the ball, and knows how to kick a goal. (I was sad to see him wanna leave the Pies, but we got some good players for him so catch ya later Beamsy. Also, i hope he doesn't have a long-standing grudge with the club for the trade issues, life's too short.)
Anyway, he was an excellent draft pick - the kind of player who can turn a game off his own boot. But is he in Pendles' class..? For me, not quite. Close, but no.

Yeh watch the 2014 GF.

You know your argument is void when you've got to pick out the spelling mistake.

You obviously haven't been around long enough on here to know Beams hates Collingwood. He's a jackass.

As for Pendles class, He's no way near it.

Well he did doubt much has changed in 12 months
It would be foolhardy to write off Dekka given that he has built a premiership list before.
He is top4 in recruiting.
I will cut TG some slack as it is no need to sit on your laurels and award Hine a job for life.( e.g Adrian Dodoro at Essendon)

My only gripe is the 2012 draft:
Pic 18- Grundy(fell in our lap)
Pic 19- Kennedy(spud of the highest order)
Pic 20- Broomhead(still speculative though skillfull)
Pic 38 - Ramsey(like Kennedy a midget)
Perhaps Hine and Rendell over cooked the stew that year?

I can't criticise much else.
Drafting is such a hit and miss science.

More misses than hits since about 09. Fasolo draft was a disaster. Daniel Farmer was the pick up of all time.
Ben Sinclair draft also a disaster.

Da fk? Ramsay is 183cm. He's got BK covered by about 8cm. Hardly what you'd class as a midget...

Hmmm - not sure if you're fishing or not

Have a look at the players taken in that draft - hardly anyone of note after Broomhead
Have a look at some of the picks other clubs took before us to see real botch jobs

1) Grundy - ok, he's there but you still need to pick him - why other clubs didn't I don't know
2) BK - going on what the club saw of him in the lead up to the draft as well as his games at VFL level it was a reasonable pick. Factors: size, he just didn't have down low power / strength so he always got pushed off the ball --
he (so far) couldn't adjust to AFL pace...he still might do so - but bc of his size needed his speed and disposal to be his weapons but he couldn't capitalise
Finally, was he drafted at the wrong time? What I mean is, had he come into the side when we had him as only option he may have played many more games and become a player
3) Broomy: On potential and what he's shown so far...who would you pick in front of him?
4) Ramsey: 183cm
Isn't short and his speed lets him get to many contests, is brave and throws himself at it -- if things go to plan, he'll be great off the last line as a rebounding shut-down defender. Personally, think he was the best choice at 38
