Given that most news orgs now seem to just throw together a list of stuff from Facebook and Twitter, I'd say yes.

I know that a couple of times , I have seen things on here, and then got a text sometime later telling me about what ever I had already been made aware of on B F.

If you look at their websites on a daily basis there are a few stories every day where you would think the responses on FB&TW have generated the uproar/story.

I've been getting my news from BF for 11 years now, so choose what I want to hear about. I didn't even know there was an election on here till a reporter rang me at work and asked me something about it.
