Re: Do Geelong Have A Plan-B?

Can't people just accept we played like shit?

Every team that loses must not have plan B?

You're absolutely correct. Typical fan backlash mate. The entire team didn't turn up to play(apart from the obvious), the same thing happened last year against Carlton and Brisbane last year. The coaches have plays in place, if the team can't be f*cked to run, tackle and work for each other... nothing works. This is what happened today.

Do we need a Plan B? Although it was obvious we were not playing our best in the end just better accuracy in front of goal and we could have still secured the win.

Re: Do Geelong Have A Plan-B?

I don't think it came back to Plan B today. We were terrible - worst game I've seen us play in a while.

Credit to Carlton - they stuck to their guns all day, but we had our chances in the second half.

I have to say it was one of those days where nothing went right today - the bounce of the ball, the umpires were ordinary - don't anyone tell me that Ablett's the umpire's golden child, Judd is untouchable. They killed us at clearances and our forwards were disappointing. Thought our backline battled very hard against the odds.

Anyway...maybe next week.

Absolutely NO! That was obviously a loss we needed to have. You can't keep stumbling over the line in games playing crap. Arrogance beat Geelong today. They need to take a good hard look at themselves.

Re: Do Geelong Have A Plan-B?

I agree with the sentiments that we just played like shit, it wasn't about our game plan.

But come on... there is evidence of us changing things around to see if we can make a change happen which I thought was good to see unlike 2008 when Bomber would just bury his head in the sand.

We played exactly like this against Carlton last year.. couldn't hit a target. Then we won the flag. It's one game. Not that I won't tear shreds through certain players at Skilled next week... that IS deserved.

At least Bomber didn't let things roll along today which has been a weakness of his in the past, he did try things.

We just played undisciplined lazy football.

This.

The worst we have played in a while. not manning up, not running hard. a lot of jogging was done not running. A very un-geelong like performance.

Plan B was there but it didn't look like they were interested at all.

Hopefully just a blip on the radar.

.... and yes, Judd is untouchable, much more than Gary.

Re: Do Geelong Have A Plan-B?

To answer your question, yes, Geelong does have a plan B. I've seen the Cats play teams where nothing is going there way and they turn it around, e.g Hawthorn Rd 2. Today we played shit, simple, we didn't run, we didn't pressure, we did nothing, we couldn't mark, and Carlton played a game out of thier ass.

Although Taylor got a couple of kicks forward, this move was never going to make a difference.

We were getting done in the middle, and when we went forward our delivery was abysmal.

That swap did nothing.

Re: Do Geelong Have A Plan-B?

With Geelong I've noticed that if Plan A doesn't work, it's not the fault of the plan. It's the players, and having plans B through Z are irrelevant because if there is no on-field cohesion with these guys, there is no cohesion.

I wasn't suggesting the Taylor/Mooney swap worked, just went to show that we did try at least something rather than nothing at all.

Re: Do Geelong Have A Plan-B?

Very disappointed in

Mackie - slow, unwilling to man up
Hawkins- never will make it we are dreaming - we heard pre season how he would take competition by the throat
Enright -struggling
Selwood -hasn't played good all year
Hunt- Slow
Blake - consistently useless
Johnson - lethargic & one dimensional
Lonergan - useless

We are never thehunter anymore, look at demons attack ferociously more speed and youth needed to invigorate team

Re: Do Geelong Have A Plan-B?

No need for kneejerk reactions.

The game plan has served us pretty darn well over the last 3 years.

Today we just lacked effort and were beaten to the ball the vast majority of the time. Hence we lost. Wasn't the gameplan.

Don't go looking for complicated answers when the obvious is right there.

Re: Do Geelong Have A Plan-B?

Are we missing Harley's leadership?

A lot of players were sub par. I'd actually drop Johnson and Hawkins not because they're not good enough but to send a message that the sort of performances they put in this year aren't tolerated.

I'd give the hairdryer treatment to Byrnes, Mackie, Hunt, Rooke and the midfield group and I'd probably can the 3 tall option, particularly when we have Rooke in the mix.

Drop Johnson after 6 goals in R4? He was beaten yesterday and continually played for the free. You can bet next round he will kick a bag full; he always does against Richmond.

Hawkins is another issue. Either Pods or Hawkins should be rested, IMO.

Geelong are not a fast team, and that's why we lost to Carlton, they were simply to quick for us. Name one Geelong player who is quick ? There's only 1 and that is Ablett. The rest were slow and just didn't run and move on monday, it was very dissapointing. We are the team usualy running hard and playing on at all costs. but things have changed now, Carlton were doing that and were killing us, and it wasn't just an off day, if we had to play Carlton again this week, the same thing would happen. Teams are catching us really fast, some have even gone past us e.g Collingwood and St. Kilda.
