Our stocks of fwds this year are more than adequate I would have thought, it is no secret that we have been decimated by injuries on our fwd line but we need to move on from that. Sure Ben would have been a huge inclusion in our team (especially right now) but he is gone and we have to get over it. Throw in Ablett, Thurley, Mooney, Kelly, Enright, Corey, etc. (who can all play fwd). If we get a full list on the paddock we are a very dangerous outfit, capable of outscoring any team. 3-4 weeks (if we dont get any more injuries to key players) we will be back to full strength and look out!! Bring it on!

If the criteria is just big, NO. We have enough height on our list. If criteria was more about match winning power forward, then maybe but where is this forward to come from? They are like hens teeth.Draft? well have a look at our list , we are neck deep in "forwards" but hardley any can be called influential , most are labelled "long term project players" - translation "excuse for non performance". Mackie is the personification of this, this player is the only one on our list that I can think of that's a forward and that has cost us a top10 pick yet we have got very little from him and he continues to struggle to get a game elsewhere. While he doe's have talent we still may look back at him as being not quite the right pick for our needs. We have avioded guys like Laycock and Shultz so now we must hope that our greyhound's turn into Rottwiellers

Perhaps we should consider getting McDougall from the eagles. Thats assuming he doesnt have a big impacts towards the later part of the year. His got some potential.

Wouldnt him having a good end to the season be a good sign? Hes done no more than Playfair etc anyway.

I think Linga's train of thought is if he shows form its more unlikely that he will be traded or if he does get traded it will cost more.
I suppose the West Coast wouldnt mind trading into a low pick this year with some good talent from WA available but Im hoping our first pick will be later than theirs'

Why trade a goodpick for him if hes playing crap though? We have enough crap forwards as is.

Gee , thats pretty hard to disagree with.
Id suppose you would have to weigh up the pick , the draft quality and the players potential. McDougall has plenty of potential and would have more natural ability than most of our forwards on our list

I don't think our young forwards are crap so much as haven't matured yet (except Gardiner, who's had plenty of chances). Thompson said a few times the forward line was the last part of the puzzle. If we're talking young key forwards then Playfair has stepped up, with established guys like Kingsley having a good year and Ottens OK. Mackie and Lonergan have ability, but neither have a lot of experience (or in Mackie's case a body). Plus no doubt Nathan Ablett will be groomed as a forward, but again that's some way off.

I believe the young guys have got some ability, just need more games under their belt. I hate tolerating crap performances but another 20 games for Mackie, Lonergan, Gardiner etc and we'll know a lot more clearly whether they'll produce or not.

Don't think WCE will give up McDougall too easily either, considering he was a first round pick. They'll look to break even there (i.e. us give away our first rounder, or a good player).

Yes, and Nick Holland is available at the end of the season. As a former rising star and B&F winner we will want two first round draft picks or alternatively Kelly, Bartel and a first round draft pick. ;)

If he could be had for a cheap price he'd be worth it. He has bucket loads of talent and is extremely mobile for a player of his size (used to play in the the midfield at school), but is extremely injury prone. Had wraps similar to Reiwolt a year or so before the draft, but injury kept him to a couple of games in year 12 and he was picked up at 5. He is yet to play a full season, but may just be growing into his body. He would be a risky proposition for a large price, but may well come off. I would question his desire for the game at the moment, I don't think he likes the full on nature of AFL footy, but I think if he was traded he'd realise that this is an opportunity, not a right. I think West Coast will hold on to him and he'll come good within the next couple of years.
