Each to their own and I can see where you're coming from. But I can't get past a page of Courtney, Dan Brown or someone like Ludlum. If it's just the story, better off handing it straight to a great movie maker (have you ever read the original Bourne books, for instance; unreadable because the writing's so banal but terrific action thrillers on film).
Other than Jessica, every book Courtney wrote was ruined by the movie-maker. Haven't read Ludlum since I was a kid and have never read Dan Brown. In fact, i think the last fiction book I read was "the whitest flower" which was brilliant, but it would be about 7 years ago. That's what 7 years at university does to you.:(

Mate, sad story. I'd confidently give you some advice but I've no clue what it would be:)

I've seen plans and the Facilities are fantastic with pools , meeting halls ,training and recovery rooms also club shop and 2 ovals .
It was the dimentions of the ovals that interested me .

Just for a laugh do you recon they will get big fans and a back board to create the wind conditions at the MCG for training the forwards goal kicking:):p

Hawthorn's facilities out at Waverly have a ground simulation room for goal-kicking where they can put up the appearance of behind the goals at any ground for players to take shots - so maybe that's not so far fetched, given that Freo's new facilities are going to be finished about the same time as we have flying cars and live on Mars :D

It can both ways. I liked the Bourne movies and even though I thought the stories were more involved in the books (which is usually a plus for me) I just liked the movies way more. On the flip side whilst I enjoyed the Lord of the Rings as movies I really preferred the books.

For me it comes down to the book writer. Jackson and many others are great directors but a good writer can just put so much more into a book than you can in a 3 hour movie. For those interested in the story it can be more involved stories, it can be more detailed descriptions or just an ability to really detail the characters thoughts that is very hard to do in movies. For mine I would say on 7 out of 10 occasions I will take the book over the movie. And then there are the books that would make fantastic movies.

A book can never be duplicated in a movie, there's just not enough time for starters along with the fact that the medium is so different (visual versus interpretation). For example: your image of the hero in a book is yours whilst in a movie it's given to you. Don't forget it was not so long ago that studios refused to make movies longer than 2 hours. The really good stories that can get a hold of a good screenwriter and director demand 3+ hours.
