Does it annoy anyone else?

Reading The Sun today and I noticed that there is an article on the Carlton pre-season time trail ran yesterday and the caption under the photo says "coach Dennis Pagan shares a joke with Anthony Koutoufides and a slim Lance Whitnall". Now when Lance comes back 2 - 3 kg's overweight it's front page, back page news, but when he has obviously worked hard over the off season they give him a couple of lines.

Does anyone else get annoyed that the media only focus on the negative's when it comes to Lance Whitnall?

Bad News sells. Unfortunately they only ever focus on the negatives. Intelligent players such as Peter Bell are ignored while the media flock to Fevola, Akermanis, Brown, and Eviritt for some cheap headline. The only really positive articles I can recall are the ones Glenn McGrath writes about himself.

Suppose if no-ones going to do it for you, you may as well do it yourself :) .

I've learnt to never listen to the news. Most of the time, ESPECIALLY in the off season it is all garbage. Either, bias... or something that is produced from the headline junky's imaginations. As of late I have found it is SEN1116 that i can trust the most.

And really!!! Who of us dont mind making the occasional Whitnal joke??? If only the footy was a big mac... then we'd see him move!!!

But from what i've seen on TV, Lance looks skinnier than before, he looks great!
The fattest guy i saw on tv was probably Ty Zantuck.

I just want to say, I was pleased to see Caroline Wilson's "Carlton says Gibbs will be a Blueblood" and "'Fragile' Fevola back in Ireland to face his demons," articles in this morning's Age.

Her efforts recently where a mixture of news, opinion and innuendo and I'm glad to see her reporting legitimate news items with some sense of balance. I have little confidence this will continue, but I thought I'd pump her up for this morning's efforts anyway.

Just refering to Whitnall here, but in the past he has let himself go over the break, and has deserved to cop some flak from the media. I'm just pleased he's returned to preseason training in good condition. :thumbsu:
Yeah its great to hear, last year i heard from his trainer he was 8kg over what he should be which i thought was disgraceful. Love to see one of the smartest players in the league live up to potential. On ya lance!

Why oh why does the club give Caroline Wilson of all people the exclusive news??!! I mean cmon! She jumps at the chance to rubbish the club... now she is getting the right to print exclusive info.

Shame on you Carlton.

That's a fair point, however I think they are going about it all wrong.

That is just my opinion though :)

Yeah I wouldn't go about it that way either - I was just speculating on the motivation. It seems that the current Carlton board are becoming very politically savvy and I wouldn't be surprised if the Malouf thing going to Singapore to meet Fev wasn't more about making himself seem a little more of an essential part of the Club at this point in time, than what it is about concern for Fev. But maybe that is just my cynicism. The first thing I thought when I saw Caro's two recent articles was 'hmmm seems like the club might be trying to nullify her negativity by throwing her a bone'. Either that or there is someone at Board level, anti-Sticks et al, who is continuing to talk to her.

yeh i believe its an attempt to nullify her as well, or at least an attempt to get her to like the club a lil more
