I would be shocked if he plays next year
He's my favourite player, but I have to agree.

This should be his last year, even if his form improves in the second half of the season. The poor bloke's running on empty.

I know he wants a flag, but it's just unfortunate that the timing didn't work out for him. We have to look to the future.

Agreed, like Shane Crawford at the end, he is a shadow of himself at his peak. Crawford was lucky Hawks got one just when he had nothing left in tank.
This season should see him out. Lots of injuries in last five or six years have taken their toll on him. He still can do a lot of damage but it in smaller patches of impact than what it once was.

Would love Murphy to get to 300 games, but he must earn them.
After missing a fortnight with a reported shoulder injury, he was pathetic early last week.
Given “a rocket” at halftime and showed in the third quarter that he still has “it”. Selectors have sent a clear message,
we will drop you if you don’t give 100% and expect to cruise to 300. I hope he is played as the sub to assist the road to 300, but will support the MC if he is left out. Ball is clearly in Marc’s court.

Team and club before individual.

Reminds me of my TripAdvisor review of Thy's dungeon.

The fact you need to ask tells me I'm better off using my time elsewhere. Like preparing some toasty peanut butter and coffee. And I'm gonna do it. Right now. Yes sir.

Not sure what the fascination with 300 games is. The greatest CFC players never made it. No need to dilute Marc's achievements gifting him the "milestone".
Bradley, Doull, Simpson, Nichols and Silvagni all made it to 300. Surely any player would be keen to join that group.
Do you get AFL life membership at 300?
Surely it would amplify his achievements rather than dilute them by joining that illustrious group?
It is a big deal.

Because they all had a premiership medal in the trophy cabinet. Marc's destroyed his body for the club and has nothing to show for it.
No one disputes what Marc has done for this club, or what the club has done for him. Kicking back in 20 years time telling his kids about his footy career do you think it would make any difference if he made it to 300?

great little post right there

Nailed it.

Cannot sustain it over a full game anymore.

Good enough if we have an early injury to play out a game but ideal if its a quarter or a half.

Picture a 100% Murph coming on against tiring midfields. Potential game breaking stuff.

They’ll get him there and it’ll be a good thing then if selection integrity follows.
The run to the finish line has been a sad way to wind up an otherwise distinguished career.
Never understood the significance of personal milestones in team sports.
Wouldn’t have a clue and couldn’t care less how many games Kenny Hunter for example played for the Blues but loved every one of them ...
