Always a bit suspicious of how certain things pan out in the AFL particularly in light of how the events line up with what the organisation often says and what they state they are trying to achieve.

One example was last years Bulldogs premiership. The side with the longest premiership and GF drought wins against the AFL's premier northern expansion team. Huge TV audience watched the game and were swept up in the Bulldogs fairytale.

Big Gil stated a few months down the track that the Bulldogs premiership was the greatest sporting day of his life. That's a strange comment for mine.

Fast forward 12 months and we are left with 2 possible outcomes. The longest grand final drought team vs the second longest grand final drought team (who are also overcoming personal tragedy) or the upstarts from Sydney.

Is this all just a bit too convenient?

No. They are just very good at marketing the product and the situation that comes about.

Im sure that every team has some form of narrative written each year and used when the successul teams emerge

If Carlton and Melb make the GF in the next 2 years, bar GWS and GC 16 teams will have made a GF within 20 years.

Equalisation is supposed to equalise
This years bottom teams should get easier draws next year
The AFL can manipulate draws to include multiple 6 day breaks, interstate travel and frequency of tough opponents,it can also influence MRP results, rule interpretation changes,FA compensation, academy rules and zones and out of salary payments through ambassadorial sponsorship.

Then let gravity do the rest

Umpires with earpieces always gets me..

How do you explain the umpires trying to keep Geelong in the game? Lol
It was interesting in the first quarter the Crows did a bump on Selwood wait for him to react with a dive then tackle.
He either adapted his dive or the umpires got the word to even it up ???
