Good on you Nieshaj!!, Lyon has done sweet FA as far as a coach is concerned he inherited a playing list that boasted multiple No.1 draft picks and he still came up short, this year when he had his star players go down he had no choice other than to play the kids he then started to win games again only to dump them when he had the old tried and tested players he had faith in available again. This man has bailed ..... at least Harvey played the kids and you only failed to make finals due to the fact that the 3 subs +1 rules crucified your team. How many players did you have available that last game?? You were lucky to field a team. Those who live by the sword will die by the sword. I guess when played footy for Fitzroy that struggled the way they did it, something must have rubbed onto those to play for them as Lyon has shown no loyalty whats so ever to the team to give him a shot at coaching.........he would want to bring results in his time with you guys cause he aint going to get another chance for another club.

If I'd known that getting Ross Lyon as coach would cause neisha to hand in her membership and Billy Hunt to defect to the GWS (and hopefully stop posting on the freo baords) I'd have scrounged up the $7.5M myself.

Great work Freo on weeding out some less passionate FREO supporters.

You could make the same case against Harvey.

Except 10 fold.

Yeah I wonder about these people. They're supposed to be the heart and soul of the club but they bail when they don't like something

Didn't much like rooting our future under muffin man. Didn't have any urge to burn the membership though

Hahaha POTD! Made me laugh so I'll chip in for the 7.5 mill.

Hand in ya memberships. Funny thing is next year if ross takes us to a grand final you will all be back hailing what a great decision it was. Nothing makes me angrier than so called passionate supporters threatening to hand back your membership. That makes me more sick than the way harves was handled today. So go ahead punish the boys who you claimed to love by chucking in your memberships. There is also something alot more going on i feel that we are unaware of as im sure they wouldnt just go sack harves for nothing.. Can imagine the backlash from the players if this was the case we would possobly lose queit a few if this were the case and i doubt they would risk that as dodgy as the steves may seem. Still. Harves didnt deserve to go this way. Gd luck harves such a nice guy.

If you think this move means Freo will be in a grand final next year you are living in cloud cuckoo land.

Classic Harvey media interview post loss. :D

LOL :thumbsu:

Dog act or not, one thing I wont miss is the lack of coherence Harvey often had in front of the cameras.

When the wash up is all done I want to know if players had moments like us fans did when Harvey was speaking. i.e. NFI what the hell he was saying.

Every time a coach gets sacked its a fairly awkward/upsetting affair but I can't understand the criticism of how it all went down. Big news & a shock but not a dog act for mine.

Is it really better to sack a coach mid season - without the full oppurtunity, after weeks of brutal media speculation and lies along the lines of 'our coach has the full support of the board' but with the coach worried that each week could be their last. With whispers and rumours and speculation making each day in the office an unpleasant one until they finally get the nod. Ie Craig, Bailey.

Or

Is it better to make a clean break, after a full season and after significant oppurtunity to display his worth. Harves can walk away clean, start with a new club at an ideal time & hasn't had to put up with any of the dead man walking bull**** these other poor blokes have had to.

In my eyes, a very clean break - and a brilliant result in getting our man.

For sure - most of us were definitely willing to tolerate another year as Harvey coach - myself included - but I'm not sure that we didn't learn more about his coaching this year than last. Everyones mentioning the injuries as an excuse but I thought when Harves had to find a way for us to win - ugly or unconventional - we didn't see it. It was a perfect oppurtunity to display his game day nous and prevent a few floggings but week after week it was the same result and same whinging press conferences.

You know, I used to think you were a reasonable person. Now I agree with the west coast posters assessment of you. And to think I used to defend you. :(

You know, i am aware you have jumped ship, more than once, when the going gets tough reg.

But to ridicule a fellow poster who is an inaugural fan, unlike your self, on his own board is a bit rich.

I listen to the weages assesment of you being a club hopper etc, and due to your continual bagging of decisions made by the FFC, can only come to the conclusion that you are ready to " hop ' again.

Good luck turncoat.:thumbsu:

I didn't jump when the going got tough.

Carlton were grand finalists in 1986 and premiers in 1987. I supported west coast because they were the first WA team in the VFL/AFL. west coast won premierships in 1992 & 1994. I supported Fremantle because I have been a South Fremantle supporter all my life.

You know **** all about me.

I am not going to support another team, but I am also not going to continue to be a member of a club that lacks integrity.

One day you might know what that word means.

I had one of these the other night!
Its a great way to cut free something unwanted. A lot cleaner way to go about business IMHO. Pun intended...

The Fremantle admin have shown a complete lack of class and professionalism in this instance.

They should have handled this a whole lot better.

Mark gave a speech this morning, thinking he was coaching next year and obviously looking forward to a bigger and better year, he had NO FREAKIN' IDEA of what had transpired.................... DOG ACT!!! The Steve's had been scheming behind his freakin' back for the past 4 or 5 weeks.

For those of you, who agree with this, after all Mark has done for the club, then you are on a par with "them" and not worth my time, nor are you true FREO supporters. There is no longer the passion, heart and soul to this Club.

Where are your seats? I had to forgo membership this year (after 14 years)due to work commitments, that has now changed so I am in the market for 4 x tickets for 2012.

Life is ruthless. The board has shown it wants success - they'll live or die by this decision. I am amazed they were able to pull this off without leaks!! The previous boards could not.

To the whingers, good riddance I want to see success, hopeful that this leads to it.

Hard to question their professionalism when nobody seemed to know about this at all. Would suggest they couldn't have done what they did any better. Whether you agree with what they did is another matter.

Many Freo fans seem to find solace in viewing this as ruthlessness then associating this with winning. Perhaps that makes this easier to digest?

Personally, I think it reeks of a desperate and crass act by the Freo admin. They obviously think they have to deliver something whilst Pavlich, McPharlin and Sandilands are still on deck, and that the clock is ticking fast.

It's not as though I am a huge wrap for Harvey, but there's a right way and a wrong way to go about these things.

What has Harvey done for the club except get paid over a million dollars to perform a job that he wasn't very good at?

Mark Harvey should be thanking the Fremantle Football Club for appointing him when he was far from the best candidate.
