And Savabeel gets another one. Fair ride from Blake.

Little bit of worrying trend.
The number of Aussie bred juveniles competing in the black type race’s becoming more regular.
Have a look at the 2 2yr olds tomorrow at Matamata including the G2 breeders.
Only 5 starters in the G2 , 3 of them Te Akau runners , all by Snitzel & Aussie bred.

I guess these horses when or if they hit breeding barns in NZ will improve the genetic pool ?

Iffraaj has certainly been a great stallion, particularly in the northern hemisphere.

Appreciate it. Yes, minor stake.
Got a mate who scoped him out and got a few people together.

Hoping it might be Dan Bowman's best though he's got a little way to beat Begoodtoyamother.

$400k for a $40k horse now.... Minus costs which means I'm about even!

Another Flemington win on Saturday and looking at the grp 3 on 8 March at the same course.

Not putting the kiss off death on but 6 starts, 2 wins and 4 seconds there.

Looking through the catalogues of yearling sales so far , gotta say Karaka is not as strong as in past years.
But no doubt they will keep churning out group horses, the Waikato country is horse heaven

NZ breeding remains very competitive in elite 1400m plus 3yr old racing in Aus. The European breds become major players at 4yrs plus and very hard to top over distance. But there are too few bred to southern hemisphere time to threaten in age restricted racing.

I'm presuming NZ breeding is trying to widen the window to include competitive 2yr olds in Australia. There haven't been many at the top level. McGinty and Courtza (slipper winner and dam of O'Reilly) the only 2 of note I can think of over the last 30 plus years.

I happened to be in the Hunter Valley during Danehill's time. Enjoyed many s with his handler. heck those Irish can drink ... and on a Sunday too. Monday was always the longest day ...

He's nominated for a 1400m race. Totally inappropriate distance. Wouldn't touch him at 1400m.

If he can get into a 2200m race ... different story. He might get ballotted out however.

He's in a tricky position. He needs to get a start in a distance race on his current rating. A lot of has been or never were's competing for that spot with a slightly better accumulated rating .... on longevity...not merit.

Long story short .... 2000m plus ️ .... 1400m ️

King Harold I'm very excited about race 8 at Ellerslie today. Looks like a form race to me. The clash of Sethito vs Hankee Alpha could could not be avoided forever. Checkmate the spanner in the works for both of them. And in the race prior, a red hot El Vencedor vs the class of Orchestral. Don't know which way to go there. This is must watch stuff!

Have a crop of weanlings coming through out of the likes of Catchy, Sheidel, Crystallised, Sistonic etc which will go to the Australian Weanling Sale in May and to be around that kind of calibre of horse is incredible to me.

If there’s one thing I cannot abide it’s race names that haven’t got a single jot of creativity. Names made up from the names of the sire and dam are the worst.

Prepped a yearling filly by Capitalist out of Miss Tomb Raider many moons ago.

Her eventual name? Capital Raider

Prepped another by Capitalist, a colt this time, out of Miss Expensive.

Ended up with Capitalex. Sigh.
