If there’s one thing I cannot abide it’s race names that haven’t got a single jot of creativity. Names made up from the names of the sire and dam are the worst.

Prepped a yearling filly by Capitalist out of Miss Tomb Raider many moons ago.

Her eventual name? Capital Raider

Prepped another by Capitalist, a colt this time, out of Miss Expensive.

Ended up with Capitalex. Sigh.

My other horse is Fabdeel not much effort put into that and it wins the popular vote
Warren Huntly doing a pre race mounting yard said sarcastically “Dunno how they named her, Dundeel out of Fabvier, anyway that’s what they’ve come up with”.

I put so much thought into my submissions and you get swallowed up by the mediocrity of the majority.

Hopefully ready to go to the races in a few weeks.

Thanks for that, this is news to me, we were told she’d be entered for Cranbourne Friday night or Geelong Saturday so I was waiting for that to drop.
Very unlike them to not advise us, their communications are top notch.

She’s actually had 5 jump outs, 2 this prep.

Now they’re looking at next Friday night at Cranbourne instead.
Now that just so happens to clash with a little event at the MCG. Our HOME match celebrating our 100 years in the league to which I’ve already booked 5 seats.

All this time waiting for her to race and this could happen
I guess we’ll find out who I love most

There is a nicely named horse racing at Cranbourne tomorrow (which should be winning).

It is out of a dam named Meow and is named Honor Galore - clever, given Pussy Galore was played by Honor Blackman.

That’s my hope. If she runs it would probably be race 1 or 3.

If NW were still around I imagine he would have been quite chuffed with Unleash The Beasts performance at Ashburton today. 2200m, missed the start by 3 lengths and won by 6, breaking his maiden. I also imagine that he was on, power played it and then celebrated with a well deserved Asahi Super Dry whilst patting his magnificent GS.

I also imagine he was particularly impressed with Blake Shinn's ride on Damask Rose in the Kiwi. Blake producing the best rails ride seen at Ellerslie since Noel Harris got La Mer up in the NZ Stakes in the late 70s.

But I guess we'll never know.

Regardless of their actual names, you end up referring to them by their stable names.

But like you, my experience is that the majority rarely fail to disappoint when it comes to the final submission to the registrar.

Heart Of Glass (Impending x Crystalised) with a very strong second at Caulfield in the 4th. First race back after a spell so absolutely nothing to sneeze at, she’ll only go upwards from here I’d say. Lovely mare to have around, her dam sure throws a very strong type.
