As much as it absolutely killed me to lost that game (same as the pies game) when we should have won both, i have to say i'm loving watching us, no team in the league is having a bigger crack than us. I thought we were in for a terrible year, but i am getting so much enjoyment watching our games.

It might be too early to say this, but i think some real credit has to go to the sub-committee who chose the coach. I think he is an absoultely ripping coach, his message each week is so consistent. Rocket would have sprayed Jones and Roughy in the press conference last night (i felt like doing it lol) but i thought it was great that Macca supported them completely and is keeping the faith, it will do wonders for their confidence.

I remember when he was appointed Hird said he has never seen a better assistant coach in his time in AFL, you don't get a wrap like that off a guy like Hird unless it is true. It will take a while but i am so happy that we got such an important decision right.

The team has to keep doing the things they are doing right and the results will start falling our way soon. Looking at the 2 teams last night i think we have a lot more to look forward to over the next 5 years than the cats.

Pissweak of the supporters behind me who were screaming blue murder about Bartel being roughed up by the doggies players, and even claimed Pearce had started it after watching the replay. Completely one eyed supporters of any club give me "the runs".

What else would you expect from the Country Bumpkins down the highway ? :D

I posted this in the other thread, but looks like the sentiment would be better suited here.

I could mention a few disappointing aspects about tonights game, but I'm getting too much enjoyment out of watching the team evolve. There is going to be plenty of downs, but I believe the ups will counter these tenfold. Macca's definitely the best thing that has happened to the club in many many years.

Can't believe their has been no mention of Jones' ripper mark. Our whole section jumped up in unison. Hopefully many more to come :thumbsu:

Pretty much have to agree with you Dougy. The team is making steady progress, and in our present position it is hard to expect more than that.

Some of the kids are coming on very nicely. But one of the most impressive aspects is how well the back half has stood up with so many of their number missing with injury. Once we can choose from a full compliment of backmen, plus development of some of the younger kids playing at Willy, the future there looks bright.

One thing I would love to see though might be Chris Grant, and Gilbee at training working on the kicking technique with small groups [2-3] of our players in a coaching type role. Going right back to the basics with them.

I believe he said something along the lines of

"He's the best coach I have ever seen"

The response from Gerard Healy was of course

"Really! Big wraps!" and Hird had no hesitation and reiterated Macca was a great coach and deserved his chance.

It's horrible. I saw things that can't be unseen during their recent premiership run :p

yes, they certainly put their handbag away big time didnt they ! Now its time for us to put ours away and win a few flags ! :D

I am staggered that BF posters were having a go at how we went on Friday!

Thought we played pretty well (aside from the first 10 minutes), and really challenged a team that is top 8 bound.

We have some way to go, and I would say we really need to draft a quality FF KPF this draft, but aside from that we seem to have young talent on every line of our team...

Austin has been terrific hasn't he?

As previous posters have said we are really giving every contest a dig. 100% effort even though the skill and finesse isn't all there - yet.

Having a go is the thing every supporter wants. If we are still young or lacking finesse that's forgivable. Not having a go is unforgivable.

I'm happy.
