Dogs land a beauty in Ugle-Hagan - but can they keep him?

You've failed again to understand the big picture. If their window is now, why is age important? They're 2nd on the ladder, with the biggest hole being their 2nd KPD.

Perhaps try and think about things before flapping your trap as usual.

Age is important because if the Dogs were to hypothetically swap a number 1 KPF who has up to 15 years ahead of him for a defender they would want someone with a long career ahead of them as well. Being that they hold the cards and all. But you are the thinker and all.....

Are you upset that I crossed out Jones from your post?

This is getting ridiculous now. Ugle-Hagan is in this position because KPDs take a bit longer. Yeah he went pick 1 but it doesn't mean that he is instantly ready for the bigger bodies in the AFL.

ranked elite for 1-on-1 contests and intercept marks, above average for spoils.

howd cordy going?

By what standard? Season or career? And lets not hand pick the stats. This season he is ranked elite in intercepts and 1-on-1s. Over his career. Average and below average in everything.

How often is Jones in a 1-on-1? He's always 20 metres from his man every single match like a lost dog. And lets just ignore his terrible disposal. Would kill us.

You're making it out like we picked Cordy over Jones... wouldn't get rid of one for the other.

I watched him in the vFL match against the Giants at Blacktown. He is more than ready.
He had 9 total touches and 3 marks in that game. Yeah he kicked 5 but at least 2 were Joe the goose in the goal square and most were pretty easy. The Dogs won by 12 goals and kicked 21 goals total.

In 3 full games he's averaged 10 disposals and 2.66 marks.

If that's what he does against VFL defenders in a dominant VFL side what will he do at AFL level?

Thilthorpe -with a much bigger body and state league experience - is averaging 10 disposals and 3.6 marks and gets the benefit of a run in the ruck to get around the ball.

JUH would do well to get 7 touches and a couple of marks a week and that's if there even was a spot for him.

Nice work on looking at the numbers, they don't scream of a player smashing the door down and demanding to be selected. Maybe Bevo knows what he's doing?

Fev IS the media haha.
Obviously isn’t talking to fev as a media person more his mrs old man

Seems to have the movie star demeanor about him. Hope I am wrong.
lot of good players have that about them especially the stars. He just has to realise there is a difference between a good club chasing flags or playing for a s**t side

He's well within his rights to be disappointed, it's good that he's hungry. Fev has no right to project disappointment to the media, he knows how offhand comments turn into a shitstorm.
Disagree dogs are top 4 and chasing a flag the others playing are mostly at s**t clubs

They need 1-2 KPDs and a small forward. A May/Jones type + top 10 pick would probably be the starting point. Their window is now.
Adding Jones makes the top 10 pick worth less

Would be like the dogs offering Lewis young and there first for McKay

Why shouldn't he be disappointed? He's a smart enough kid to understand he isn't entitled to a spot in the team, but he's allowed to be hungry and be bursting at the seams to be in the side. That's a good trait to have in a young kid, and you bet he'll be working hard to achieve it.

Fully expect Jamarra to be an A grader at the bulldogs in time.

You dont just hand blokes games becuase they were picked high in the draft.

Dogs doing the right thing across the board here. Same with my club with Phillips.

no one really from last years draft class has hit the ground running too much. Only 3 from the 2020 draft feature in the top 12 of betting for the rising star (Cox, Powell, Thilthorpe) and its unlikely any of them win it.

This is such a different situation as well, with JUH going to a finals team, rather than a garbage team like Walsh and co did when they were drafted

An 18 year old Walsh would’ve played at the Dogs by now.

If anyone has actually bothered to watch Jamarra LIVE IN THE FLESH this season and not on fox footy, you would have noticed that he fades off late in games and after 1-2 tough contests he’s gassed. Numerous times he had hands on knees. Talent will get him goals in the vfl yes but it’s a huge step up in the seniors. Some were calling him for the Richmond clash - he would have been cooked at half time.
Let the kid build his tank, which he is. He’ll get his chance this year.
Not dissimilar to Logan McDonald.

It was great to see him burst into the seniors but it became pretty apparent that he wasn't going to play 20+ games there this year. If Reid was fit Logan would probably still be in the 2's.

Exactly right. Why the need to rush them? You still have buddy, Reid, McLean and Amartey coming through as well. Logan going to be a star, but doesn’t need to be a star in year one.

18 year old Walsh came into the AFL with an elite tank. Jamarra hasn’t. And due to a concussion, VFL bye and Covid he hasn’t played a game of footy for 6 weeks. He also has Naughton and Bruce who’s currently top 3 in the Coleman ahead of him. And the club is sitting 2nd on the ladder. His time will come. After watching McKay’s development you of all people should know big men develop slower. There’s no need to rush them.
