McNeil spent a ridiculous 60% or so TOG
Garcia only 55%, was he injured ?

So we select players we dont think are up to it, then prove it by having them sit on the bench

Yet didn't want to risk Treloar,

Was bizzare both of them papers stamped for me now neither clean enough nor good enough

Wasn't he a free agent last year and only the Eagles were semi interested? The contract we signed him for is fine though, TDK is going to get something like $700k-$800k more a year which is just laughable. Everyone has a game where they drop marks as well so won't hold that against him either. However I have zero confidence (and I would say neither do our mids) that in a crunch centre bounce he is going to come up with the goods, or at least try to bring the ball to ground for another ball up so we can flood back and reset to try stop a run on of goals.
We need to sort out the backup issue soon.

Darcy isn’t necessarily a great ruckman at this stage but is a competitor. The concern is him getting injured in the middle.

Naughton has shown that he can add some chaos for a few bounces.

Lobb going into the ruck causes other issues.

I think it’s likely to be one of the above options for the foreseeable future. We need something to break it up.

Why though?

After 2016 we were one of the youngest premiership teams by the end of 2018 we were doing a mini rebuild.

2021 we were a team at its prime, by 2023 we’re were in a mini rebuild.

So why are we constantly challenging for one year then can’t back it up the following and transition into a mini rebuild the year after that?

The reason we are constantly in no man’s land is because we have some exceptional talent on our list that carries us, we play the same bottom 6 most weeks and rotate the 12-17 guys in the team around.

Why aren’t we going all in?
What do you mean by going all in?

Garcia is a good break glass type player but don’t see him taking us forward. I don’t see it with him as best 22. Reckon he’ll move on. McNeill has had his chances, goneski

With a weaker back 6 structure compared to other top 8 sides it was going to be a challenge going deep into the finals. That said, the margins against Crows, Collingwood, and Geelong were not big losses, quite close in comparison.

While it's disappointing to get toppled this close to the line the structure needs a lockdown defender and KPD. That's been evident most of the season. I dont believe the team was primed for any chance this season, next season they will be in the box seat IMO

I’m also very bullish about next year, especially if we get Cody back. When does trade radio begin? 😆

Why haven’t we recruited and aggressively pursued guys to fill massive needs?

We keep going to the draft and prioritising the draft unless guys fall in our lap or we go after other teams discards.

We’ve need defensive options last season and this season yet we haven’t been aggressive to get anyone. We are quite comfortable to rebuild on the run instead.

Beveridge has been vocal that he doesn’t believe in full rebuilds and I am not suggesting one but at some stage when you have 90% of the pieces you have to say to hell with the draft and get in the people to make you take the leap or maintain being up there challenging we too quickly go back to the draft

there'd be more chance of VDM being delisted. I dont see any movement with McNeil, Bramble, Cleary etc. Khamis will go, Doc retires. Not sure about Jones although fitness, injury and age is not on his side and how much longer we can get out of Lobb is anyone's guess

What did you expect him to say?

I don’t care what he says in public.

But it is vital that he is raising concerns internally with the coaching group and footy department. He would be the most influential voice in the club alongside the coach, you’d imagine. Leadership is more than performing on the field in this instance, when the coaching panel is failing the playing group.

Personally if you were the CEO you would tell Bevo to STFU this off season and let Sammy take charge, lay out of needs and just go and get them and if he doesn't like it he can p*** off and coach Melbourne.
Do not want! Gotta be the grumpiest bastard going around these days.

David king mentioned on SEN that Lobb had 6 one on ones and lost 4 of them. That’s horrendous.
Lobb has a terrible game. The issue is that he was required to play 1v1 against the bigger Freo forwards. His best role is the intercepting defender where he can peel off the forwards. We're still lacking the number 1 defender and JOD looks more like a number 2 as well.

The backline match ups were wrong from the start.

Who says we haven’t?

Players have to be available and willing to come to us. We are not a destination club.

We missed out in Barrass, for better or worse.

Lobb just had a shocker - several times he was in a good position and just misjudged the flight of the ball.

Gives me the sh1ts when people think you can just go "Hey Carlton 1 Jacob Weitering here is our first rounder"

Both club and player have to agree

No other team in the competition concedes as many uncontested goals out the back as we do. Even in games that we win comfortably it is a problem. That strongly indicates that our zone defence is not working.
See, you get it and you're just Some Idiot.

Surely the club now gets it, right?

I'm not sure this is correct.

Keath, Jones, Coffield and we've thrown Lobb in defence and chased Barrass hard.
Treloar, Kennedy as CBA capable mids.
Bruce forward.

I don't for a second think we've been sitting on our hands. We were in the top 2 defensive units in the comp last year as well.

FWIW 20-25% loss rate is roughly acceptable from a defender.
Lobb has the worst game of his career yesterday.

Once again, our crowd in general was as loud and vocal as the butterfly enclosure at the Royal Melbourne Zoo. The current cheer squad of the Bulldogs squad is a pure joke. I just couldn't believe how vocal the Freo cheer squad was today, while the Bulldogs cheer squad must have been watching TikTok on their phones all day due to their lack of cheer.
Honestly dude where were you sitting? Ground level aslie 34 was as loud as ever, constantly chanting bulldogs to try and get us back into it?
