Our season went quick. It seems like just a few weeks ago that [PLAYERCARD]Ed Richards[/PLAYERCARD] pounced on a [PLAYERCARD]Caleb Daniel[/PLAYERCARD] turnover and kicked our first goal of the season.

This year was not without positives, but we seem to be a long way off premiership contention

I'm not sure any backline in the league would have changed the result of this one. This is squarely on coaching and the lack of pressure from our mids and forwards. Our structure is so piss poor, everyone runs forward as soon as we win the ball or it is somewhat contested (not even necessarily in our favour) so much so that as soon as the opposition have it they are 1 possession away from being completely out.

And our high press is an absolute joke. All the opposition forwards have to do is stay 5m behind their man and they have half a field to run lead back into, or lead wide or stop and prop or do whatever the hell they want because there is zero pressure on the ball carrier and half a field to kick into!
Yep this was obvious live in the one game I attended at the Gabba

If I was a nutritionist I'd get Darcy, Croft and English on the most extreme mass building diet I could get them on, English needs some serious mass on him so he has the strength over the ruckman, he gets bullied by Gawn and Nank types (in their prime, even Grundy destroyed him who is very similar in profile)

Get Croft to get some mass on him and do a preseason with the backs, yeah it robs Peter to pay Paul but Darcy and Naughton as the two talls, with Westy as a crumbing forward who can play tall was the best the forward line has looked in years when Naughty got back into having fitness and form.

Darcy just needs another 5-10kgs on him so he can really bully his opponent more then he already does
English could become bigger than Hulk Hogan but that still won't stop him being pushed around by nothing opposition ruckmen, he's just too mentally timid. We need a ruckman who just hurts the opposition ruckman physically. He may loose a few tap outs but the opposition ruckman would become worried about how he's going to be impacted physically each time they go against each other. Wynd and Minson were good ruckman plus they knew how to physically impact the opposition ruckman to put them off their game.

Just quietly, Wynd was a little bit better than good :)

just hard to cop only a month ago we obliterate GWS, but there they are in 5th about to host a home Final:mad:

Go down to Cavallaro’s and get youselves a cannoli and espresso and get ready to go again in the preseason you good boys 👍

Failure of a season.

We’ve finished 9th twice in the last 4 seasons, the other finishes being 6th & 8th. We’ve been very lucky with some father-sons (and JUH until the end of last year), but 4 years of middling is a very uncomfortable spot to be.

We need a circuit breaker.
We're not going low enough to get the really talented draft kids.
We're not finishing high enough to really attract the talent we need.
We're in that really uncomfortable middle-of-the-pack spot that teams seem to get stuck in.

The club is very against bottoming out so we really need to throw a large amount of money to lure what we need to the club. Problem is, I'm not sure if we have the balls to do it.

Yes, I'd offer over's for the services of three seasoned, young (23-25) proven defenders. We need a gorilla 1#, an upgrade on Bramble and a silky medium.

Yes, we have Sellwood, Walker and Busslinger on the list but honestly they are all unproven, the window is now, the time is now, we throw picks and money at what we need and we go hard again next year.
