A quick synopsis of the build up to and a bit of the match.

Had to chaperone two Canadian consultants to the Footy today.
The guy was a bit of a tool but the lady was a fine representative of Canadian culture so it balanced the ledger beautifully.
Took them to Smorgo's pre-match address which they were impressed by and just in case you aren't aware, there is only 6 western suburbs companies that have committed over $5,000 to the club.
Just a note: They were amazed about the amount of logos on the jumpers and shorts etc. In US sport the jumpers etc are off limits.

Match:
Q1: White Boots everywhere.
Rohde once again got his defensive match up right.
Hahn, Alvey and Grant were outstanding and the Dogs built a great lead however, Geelong scored some fortuitous goals that really kept them competitive. They really did not deserve to be in the Q at all.
Mooney's undisciplined conduct was worth watching however, it was topped by some doggie spectators at Q time.

At the end of the Q, I saw just about the funniest spectator on
spectator argument I have ever seen.
Aparently spectator 1 made a disparaging comment about a Paul Dimattina skill error and spectator 2 took umbrage and in what could be best be described as a kindergarten tanty carried on in a manner that even PC would be embarrassed by.
Very funny stuff, a lot of doggie supporters had a good laugh,
So apparently PC, you have some pretty firey competition for Dimma's affection.

I will give a more detailed Q by Q description if others require it however, the Grant injury is a great shame and my heart goes out to him because I really believe he was going to have a great season and he more than most deserved it.
One other note was that Rohde probably did not use his bench well given the warm weather however, a lot of injuries might have been the reason.
Best players: (In no order) Smith, Guido, Johnson, Alvey, Robbins, West and Grant before he was injured.
Special mention to Bassett who did a good low key job.

dimma had a pretty uninspiring first 10 minutes, but 1st game nerves and all...

he went on to have a cracker of a game I thought, showed real desperation crashing and burrowing for the ball. Thats what we need from the guy....had some nice kicking including a long goal too!

on other guys who generally get a shellacking:

eagleton: what can I say, Ive been on his case since he got here, but if he continues to play in this manner, Ill turn.

harrison: battled manfully I suppose, but geez when the ball hits the deck my heart was in my mouth waiting for him to fumble for it.

Alves: always liked his delivery but shame about his endevour, but today he was good (by his standards) at endevour and certainly his disposal was very damaging. great game.

Wiggins: Thought he could have played the whole game from a FP, since for most of the game we only had harrison and bandy as talls. poor matty scarlet! but anyways, I think he showed more than harrison a second tall.

crumbing...we had crumbers everywhere, my god!

I thought Dimma's disposal today was dreadful except for a good pass to Brownie and a goal at the end.

Wiggins was good and directly contributed in 3 goals. great shepherd for Alves to goal.

Thought Dimma's kicking let him down a couple of times but he did have an impact and gave us a lot of drive.

Agree with Wiggo. I thought we could have used him a bit more especially when Graham was struggling and off the ground. To stretch tem even more.

OMG, I had you pegged for being a bit younger.
Are you sure it was you ? This guy had a Gilligan style cap not a beanie.
I was up the back of section 40 I think because I couldn't sit in my normal seat because of the guests.
What started the tanty ?
The Canadians said you reminded them of a New Yorker

Dimma made few errors at the start but everyone made a mistake or two today.
Hahn would have been BOG if he played 4 quarters. Dimma continued a lot of his early work and is definetly suited to this style of play and in our best 22.

Arguement started because apparently Dimma is the worst player ever to play the game...

Then he was just a moron and decided that he'd:

a/ given more money than me to the club which entitled him to have more say than me

b/ he was old and that also entitled him to have more of a say than him

Was more a case of him being a crotchmuncher than bagging Dimma

No question he is in the best 22 on form.
Every team has a player the fans love to hate and I think Dimma might be ours

Fair reasons, it looked like you were getting the better of him anyway. I tell you it was funny though. Were you aware that some of the supporters were having a good laugh ?
All I knew was that it was something that the older guy said about Dimma couldn't hear too much more but what I heard was funny.

I'm used to having a the typical "dimma's crap" argument, but was ****ed of at being told my opinion didn't matter because of the reasons he gave.

And i like my hat too. :)

Shouldn't you just wait until Dimma redeems himself by kicking a goal before getting into an argument ?
Forgot to look that way late in the game when Dimma goaled.
Was there a payback ?

I was thrown by the hat because in another thread you said you had a new beanie and I assumed it was the old style beanies
It was the only way I could think to decribe it

I tell you PC it was good to watch, if I'm in the area again I'll come and say g'day

Yeah, extra loud shout when Dimma put it through along with a few words of wisdom...

The hat for beanie was a late change due to the warmer and sunnier than expected weather...

Got it...It was hot in the sun
Thanks for the Q time entertainment :) I'm still having a chuckle.

I suppose it is pleasing for all of us to know that there isn't another Dimma lover on the loose. :)
