In some ways, the enigmatic Doggies could be Hawthorn's greatest challenge to this point of the season.

I say this because of where each team is at in their 'psycho-cycles.' The Hawks would be deservedly happy with their 2001 form, however, 'happy' is not an emotion which coaches really try to promote. Can they come up mentally?

The Dogs are a great backs-to-the-wall side, yet they are coming off a resounding victory. However, they do tend to fire up against opposition that have most recently beaten them. Take this year for example:

Round 1 - lost to St. Kilda (beat them last time)
Round 2 - defeated Richmond (they shallacked the Dogs in 2000)
Round 3 - lost to Collingwood (beat them last time)
Round 4 - defeated Brisbane (3 resounding wins to the Lions last year).

Now - Round 5 v Hawthorn - the Hawks really did towel the Bulldogs in both games last year.

Any diehard fan will claim to know the psyche of their team. Call it a gut feeling, it usually craps all over science. The best side on paper?? Totally bloody irrelevant if you ask me. What do you think is going through the collective minds of both teams this week?

IT SHOULD BE A CORKA!!!!!

I think the real threat to my hawk boys will be trying to back up after a hard slog in poor conditions yesterday. Surely that will take a toll on the side.

One thing on our side though is that we have a lot of room left for improvement, and week by week this season we have watched them against the odds strengthen as not just a side, but as a team.

It certainly looks like it will be a ripper of a match though.

GO HAWKS

BRISBANE/RICHMOND ARE 2 OF THE SOFTEST OVERRATED TEAMS IN THE COMP!!!

But Brisbane are apparently 2nd favorite for the flag, and Richmond have won 3 out of 4. You see...probabilies and statistics...where do they ever get you?
