Thanks for reports guys & gals - especially OldSchool. Wish I'd been there but the reports here are a lot better than the papers.

Anyway 2 blokes who were not mentioned:
Sam Power
Patrick Bowden

Did they play for the bees? Any reports?
Power played in the firsts but didn't get much game time. I can only remember him getting 1 possesion.

Bowden didn't play in the firsts - and I missed the Bees altogether because two lanes were closed on the West Gate and it took me 1 1/2 hours to get there!

oooh nasty jim. any road rage?

thanks for Power report. I read about Bowden on Chops' report on the Bees (just after I posted my question about him ;) ).

Do you think Power has been 'pushed back' in the pecking order with the change of coach? Rohde is looking more for accountability and hardness (Birss, Hahn) and I guess Power isn't mature enough to have too much of those things.

Also Garlick, was he up forward the whole game too? Did he do any good?
Browny was up forward all day and I can only recall Garlick being on the ball for a few minutes here and there

Jim, How far out in the Eastern suburbs are you ? My trip was only 45 but I did leave early so that I could catch all of the Bees game

Im bloody glad he jumped straight up and got on with the job. The ground was fairly soft so that would've helped too.

Go Robbo!
Maybe because he hit him in the back and pulled out of it and it didn't ****ing hurt him? Maybe, just maybe, Bulldog supporters over reacted a touch?

It did hurt him. He said it himself.

Then Robbo's the softest man alive...

But wait, we can't say that can we? I mean after all he's not Jordan McMahon or Nathan Eagleton - They are the two softest players in the league.

He didn't get hurt until the third quarter? (i think) and was in his civies during the last. (so maybe it was earlier)

I know i have a shocking memory, but i don't think he hurt his shoulder in the first 10 minutes of the game...

Could be wrong, but i'm pretty sure it was the third.

Your joking...I have a place in Burwood as well. I went to the ground via the Eastern

I stand corrected - Website has him getting hit in the first 15 minutes of the game...

Oh well, can't be right all the time.

Nah your wrong this time sporty. It was in the 1st qtr cos he was on the bench in the second qtr and after half time he was changed into his bulldog clothes.

Quality of opposition today?
Brisbane had Lappin, McDonald and Keating out and Lynch played half a game. The quality of the opposition was good in our last practice game. I would rather play the premiers than Richmond or Freo.
I disagree with people that say there was no intensity. For a practice game, the tackling and bumping was at times ferocious.
I enjoyed the way Wiggins went for his marks. Even if he didn't mark the ball he knocked over opponents.
Enjoyed watching Hahn play in the midfield and Skipper at CHF.
Well done to Rohde for taking Johnson off as a precaution even though he wasn't too severely hurt.

I can agree with a few but how Hahn does not rate a mention is beyond me
Ridiculous. Hahn was my second best after Grant. He is strong and can take a grab. Put him in the guts for round one

I like the idea of Hahn and West in the midfield as they will not get pushed off the ball easily.
The Cats are a very good team and have some bigger bodies with their midfield so it makes sense to at least match them up with a few inform players.

That is exactly what I wanted to hear about Wiggo.

Knocking opponents out the way if he can't take the mark.

because we know what that means. More space for the wizz kids , Brown, Johnno, McMahon, Guido to work their forward line magic.

I also think that as the Wiggmeister settles in and becomes more confident he will start taking more marks anyhow. He will have more confidence in backing himself to go for them and will learn the art of timing his leads with more experience.

His performance was a lot better than his stats would indicate given the conditions were not great for a marking player.
The ones he held were good and even the ones he missed were close contests. I think I said previously that it was the most encouraging effort I have seen from him
