Archer didn't make contact with the guy's front. He bumped him in the sholder and the bulldog player dropped the mark, but because Archer ran with the flight (from in front of the doggies player) it's a free kick by default.

Absolutely ridiculous - basically means the defender just has to watch the forward take the mark.
