Game Day Dogs vs Swans Grand Final

Need to remember that the Bulldogs went to the draft for the two years before Boyd was traded for their early pick at the end of 2014.

2012: Stringer (Pick 5), Macrae (Pick 6)
2013: Bontempelli (pick 4)

We appear to have done well with pick 13 (Weller) in 2014 but had no first round pick in 2015. Using pick 3 to add one of McLuggage, McGrath or SPS is a must.

We can add the likes of Brad Hill, McCarthy and Kersten and still keep pick 3.

Also Jack Gunston was traded to Hawthorn in a deal that saw three draft picks (pick 24, 46 & 64) given to Adelaide and two picks returned (pick 53 and 71). I don't see those as early picks and it is the sort of trade (or hopefully better) that we pick up Cam McCarthy.

Add the guarantee of Wallis (who would've played if not for broken leg), Liberatore and Hunter for three free hits

I still cant believe the dogs won. After we beat them in rd 23 i thought they were just making up the numbers.

If someone said to me while pav was doing a lap of honour that the dogs will go on and win the premiership i would have told them their dreaming or used some other expletives.

You certainly wouldn't have been alone. The only one that I know of that said it back then was Grant Thomas and he got a fair share of flak telling him he was dreaming etc.

We get the Bulldogs umpiring in 2013 and We would have been premiers.

People hate it when you say that. But damned if it isn't true - Sandi was treated like monkeybars at a kids birthday party, late hits and chicken wings were fine, and the "good guys" at the Hawks got the benefit of the doubt all day. It was disgusting. Of course, kick straight and it doesn't matter.... doh!

Oh, and then I had the misfortune to run into Eagles supporters wearing Hawks gear outside the ground afterwards (no, really). What a day

Seems like the swans fans feel a bit cheated on the free kick count

They (Bulldogs) certainly got the rub of the green. I think the umps got caught up in the hype behind the Bulldogs. I wonder which state they live in.

Edit: all 3 are Victorians.

I noticed a few times they could of payed free kicks in front of goal. The AFL really wanted the dogs to win. Ongoing revenue is important

The Dogs player running through the protected zone late in the PF was a big let off.

I also think with all of the histeria around the manufacturing of a super team by the AFL (GWS) that it was important for the AFL to show that a club who's historically done it hard can show that it can be done...if you're a well run club willing to make hard calls and recruit well.

Yep for sure

I wanted the dogs to win but they got the rub of the green against GWS too. Like you said they have recruited well

First Gf I have watched as a neutral hoping one team to win only to be cheering against them after the first quarter.

Bulldogs clearly won the final quarter -

This is the kind of gritty analysis that Hackdorn will take advantage of in his next "article". Great work.
He won't this is fact that are in history book , hackdorn prefer fiction with analysis that not yet happen or never happen.

Lots of tinfoil hat douchebaggery around. If the Dogs win it it's an AFL conspiracy; but if the Swans or GWS had have won it, there would also be conspiracies.
But if freo win it i am happy to said there is no conspiracy :)

There is no conspiracy when we win as we've genuinely earned it.

Great win by the dogs and such a tight nit bunch of players. Next year they will be better again and have Wallis, Adams, Suckling back and be trying to get Bob Murphy a premiership medal in his last season.

They have completely mixed up the formula for a winning finals team with a lack of height forward and back, only one ruck and guys like Caleb Daniel in the team. With Murphy, JJ, Suckling, Wood rebounding off HBF flank next year they will be like Hawthorn were in their prime only better because they can also win contested ball.

There was a moment when one of the Bullies defenders was blatantly holding the arm of the Sydney forward, behind his back, so the forward could only extend one arm up to mark the ball - which he almost did, but couldn't of course complete the mark as they were held the whole time. Those kinds of things sour the win

Hard to see other teams getting a look in with them and GWS hitting their straps. Sydney will recalibrate, Hawks reload...

If you are not open minded enough to question how a team, a VIC based team, can end up with a positive 31 Free Kick differential through their 4 finals games, then you are also likely to use the word conspiracy to dismiss those who do.
