Into the side that you beat in round 22 by 4 goals comes Pendlebury, Ball and Jolly. Into the Bulldogs team comes Hall and out goes Welsh. Collingwood beat you earlier in the season with Pendlebury.

By 1 point.

As I said in my previous post you can not safely say that Collingwood are a better team than the Bulldogs.

The Dogs have plenty more in reserve.....not sure if the same can be said of Hawthorn. This is the year the Hawkers will prove that 2008 was a Bradbury premiership.

exactly right. hawthorn had everything fall into place in 08, just like st kilda did in 09... only difference is the hawkers made the most of it. unlike riewold, i mean st kilda.

WESTERN Bulldog draftee Christian Howard has been added to the long-term injury list and won't be available to play until at least round four of the home and away season.

Howard, who turns 19 next month, had surgery on a hip impingement in late December and was expected to miss a few months..

This is how the dogs fix there list so that Moles can play.

The dogs have definitely added what they need to their forward line. The only big question is whether Barry can stay fit/not reported up until and through the finals, and some of their older players (Akermanis/Johnson) can stay fit and firing through the season/finals.

Without those three, they might struggle to have the quality and variety to beat a fully fit and firing Geelong/StK/Hawthorn.

The same issue Geelong has with their older players in Mooney, Scarlett and Milburn. Saints with the Riewoldt's dodgey knee and the Hawks have lost a few of their premiership players including Croad, Dew and Crawford - big outs.

At the end of the day, a bit of luck is needed to get a team across the line - something that is never associated with the bulldogs.

Cooney and Murphy on one knee each all year, Murphy was useless towards the end of the year. Higgins with OP, Williams missing for large chunks of the season, Gilbee losing his dad and threatening to give the game away, Grffen losing his dad.

HArbrow is only going to get better, it was officially his first year playing as an attacking defender. Harbrow's game on Friday night clearly showed me that he is learning how to be tight on his man and when is the right time to run off, he frees up Gilbee who has dealt with a heavy tag for a few years now.

Callan Ward has another pre season under his belt, Gia essesntially missed the entire preseason last year. Morris played the prelim with a broken foot.

But nah, you're right, I've got blinkers on and there is fk all improvment left in our side

Player changes aside, the pleasing thing about the way we went about beating the hawks wasnt our attack. Hall will add an extra structural dimension to our attack, which is great, but the bulldogs do have a great deal of improvement to come defensively and thats what we saw in the finals last year where we matched st kilda all night in that area, and again it was a feature against the hawks where we outtackled them 80 something to 50 something.

To go further this year we need to be able to score more under the intense pressure of finals. Hall can only help in that area.

And we need to apply more defensive pressure to the other teams to stop them scoring.

Without commenting on my own team for fear of being labelled biased, how, pray tell...did everything "fall into place" for St Kilda, that enabled them to win 20 games in the H&A and then fall just short of a GF win by a couple of goals.

Enlighten us.

Good teams have off days. Good teams occasionally experiment with younger players and/or positions. They are, nonetheless, good teams. Only imbeciles like you with your grand statements, fail to realise that.

Everyone has their problems and every club has their fair share of interrupted pre-seasons or players playing under injury clouds. You can't tell me that the Bulldogs have had the short straw with injuries. In 2008 and 2009 the Bulldogs used the third least amount of players used.

If you don't win the premiership and Collingwood finish ahead of the Bulldogs then I'm right.

This years pre season has been great for us. Virtually every player completed over 90% of the pre season. Holds us in good stead for the season.

Minson is the only starting 22 player that missed a large portion.

Just the NAB Cup but it was great football. Good to have players like Murphy and Cooney having a full pre-season.

With Barry, all he needs to do is create a contest. If I remember correctly he kicked 6 last year on Lake in a 40 point loss so there is no doubt he has the strength and ability one-on-one. Hopefully there is no brain snaps and he can provide that big option we have always needed.

ALso no worries for Hawthorn, missing half their best side and the fact it's only the mickey mouse cup
