One match that should be fondly remembered by all Doggies comes from Round 11, 1991. Scoreline: Footscray 8.9 (57) Carlton 1.10 (16). It was an archtypal Western Oval day, wet and windy. The Blues didn't kick their only goal until the final minute of the game.

a) Who kicked Carlton's goal, from a free kick?
b) Which Doggy gave away the free?
c) How did this very same Bulldogs player influence the final 20 seconds of the following week's game?!
d) Ditto - the same player versus North Melbourne in 1987 in the final seconds?

OK here gos.
1. Mark Arceri
2. Steve Macpherson(?)
3. Can't remember
4. Kicked a goal to draw the game and (we thought at the time) seal a spot in the finals.

...Son, if youre going to follow the Doggies you'll need a sense of humour...

You are right jboyar!! Boundary throw-in on the forward flank. Wynd taps it over the back, sharked by MacPherson who roosts it high. It almost drifts out-on-the-full...crowd is pensive as the goal umpire signals......a POINT. Siren sounds immediately. A DRAW!!

If you've got a video of that game you can see a mate of mine run onto the ground and over to the players at the end of the game.

I’ve got the Sydney game on DVD - and am annoyed no end that Name A Game failed to transfer the previous week’s game against Carlton from VHS to DVD. I’ll even jokingly say it was because, when Docklands was being constructed, the AFL did not want people to know that the short-passing defensive style of play of the Blues and Eagles would dominate without muddy grounds to play on, as has been shown since Docklands was finished.

You are right about the final point by Stephen MacPherson: it was in fact a very good snap in terrible conditions after a classic palm from Wynd. There was another drawn game against the Blues in 1989 where he was again involved via having a “fresh air” shot. I recall listening intensely on the radio and Footscray had a goal controversially disallowed which would have won them the game.
