Our man ❤️

If he ever had to buy a coffee or a beer for the rest of his life I’d be disappointed.
He has mentioned it before in interviews but he has just made such a insane amount of money from that goal. The money came from everywhere. Sponsorship, speaking tours, memorabilia al related to that one moment. Forget a coffee or a beer, he has probably made 1 mill+ from it already

Deserves every cent and more ❤️

I reckon there's a hell of a debate to be had over who's career you'd rather have from the Perth clubs of that era - Dom Sheed or Nat Fyfe.

One has all the individual accolades, Brownlows, MVPs, All-Australians, is a proper great of the game. The other will be remembered for one iconic moment that was the childhood dream of everyone.

I think I'd probably take Sheed's.

The Dom

Thanks legend and good luck in the future

Probably responsible for one of the more iconic moments in gfs? It is the most iconic moment in Grand final history and football history itself. That was the biggest kick in the biggest moment.

I'm well into my 50's and been watching the game for a long time. The entire play from the McGovern mark to the way it made its way to Sheed was incredible. Every moment of that entire play was clutch. Probably the single most incredible clutch play in the history of the AFL given it was in a GF and led to a win at the last moment.

And as others have pointed out, he kicked a drop punt which probably would not be the case today.

Well played and enjoy retirement. Will never have to buy a beer (edit: ginger beer) for the remainder of his life.

The most overrated goal ever.

People act like he kicked the goal after the siren to win the game.

Sheed's goal was kicked with 1:45 to go, effectively sealing the game.

Yet old Pies fans still b!tch and moan about Wayne Harmes in 1979, who tapped the ball back with around 5 minutes to go...

Dom Sheed and Wayne Harmes are both only recognisable names because of their association with Collingwood. Either of those "moments" happen against any other team no one would care about them.

Just another example of people feeding off Collingwood's popularity.

Too soon for me to mention Barry Breen?

Good thing the ineptitude of Jack Darling fluffing an easy goal from the goal square ensured the final margin stayed within a goal.

That, Goddards mark and Leo Barrys mark are my top 3 moments, in my years of watching this beautiful game.

Boyd's goal to seal it for the Dogs is up there too.

Sheed will get to celebrate with 21 mates every year ending in 8 for the next 40 odd years. You can't do that with Brownlows although I dare say Nat has a few more properties. Anyways I'd take Sheed's too

Goddard's was ultimately a losing cause.

The clear top 3 GF moments in the modern AFL are Sheed, Leo Barry and Tom Boyd imo.

No disrespect to Nat Fyfe, but it's not a debate, and Fyfe himself would say the same you'd think.

If Freo were to win a flag this year (god forbid) with Fyfe nabbing a medal it would be his greatest achievement.

Fyfe gets injured in a warm up these days. Highly unlikely he'd even be on the field.

2 Brownlows, 2 Leigh Matthews, 3 AAs, 250 games, life membership - and I suspect that Fyfe is one of those guys who works in footy (media or coaching) for as long as he wants.

I feel like you're being a little flippant about one of the truly great players of this century.

Thread's not about him though, and I guess your post proves the point about how memorable and highly rated Sheed's moment was.
