I wasn't necessarily calling for him to be dropped given where we are in the season but I cannot see him escaping the axe after 7 possessions in a full game.

I'm actually annoyed everybody is suddenly agreeing with me.

**** yall. You all threw me over the coals when I suggested Mr Larke Medalist was a wasted pick, and called for everybody to stop calling him Shred.

Now get a load of the band wagoners.

Don't really care about pace or 'special skills' but gee Sheed's efforts were disappointing tonight. It's bizarre at junior level he was as hard as any player out there but tonight he approached multiple contests very tentatively. I was more than happy with drafting Sheed but I hope he cops one hell of a spray for some of his efforts tonight because that was a long way off AFL standard.

Hell yeah, this guy knows what's going down

A mate of mine works behind the scenes at east perth. Says that a lot of the players are very friendly to him. Sheed apparently walks past him without saying a single thing. Apparently thinks his the coolest thing under the sun and has a big ego. I hope Simmo sends a rocket up his arse for a pathetic effort tonight. Didn't look like he wanted to go near it. Hope he isn't as fig jam as my mate suggests too.

I have alot of Kalgoorlie mates that know him personally and have heard nothing other than that he's a very nice kid.

Sometimes you just dont acknowledge people at work for arbitrary or mysterious reasons, and get to the point of no return (saying gday)

but he might be just too cool for school yeah

Hi guys,

Read alot, don't post often but I feel like putting in my two bobs here.

I too was disappointed in Sheed last night, but I don't think his lack of possessions was because he is soft (unlike Smith). He actually hesitated every time he went near the ball and looked around, whether it was for a receive, hard ball get or tackle. It was like he was unsure, either of the game plan or of getting in other players way. When he got the ball (particularly before the rain started) he actually did a few good things, and didn't seem overly rushed.

I know personally that when playing and progressing to higher grades etc I was always very conscious of getting in the way of team mates or doing something wrong as opposed to having a crack. This obviously diminishes as you become comfortable with team mates and game plans.

Would be great to have a draft pick come in and grab the game by the scruff of the neck though!!

Weren't Masten and Cale Morton also Larke Medalists??

I feel bad when I watch Bontempelli, we needed this kid. I know we didn't finish low enough to get such a gun.
These are the type of players Sheed with have to negate, hope we are all wrong about this kid.

The point everyone is missing here, is that despite what our Keystone Cops recruiters would like us to believe, 11 does not equal 6, and trading backwards is not what smart clubs do.
I hope Sheed ends up being a great player but as others have said he looks slow, very unsure of himself, not overly skilled, and did not attack the footy with anywhere near enough gusto last night or in any if his games so far. Elliot Yeo is an example of how a young player should be attacking the contest.

At this rate we'd have been better off just giving Brisbane 28 for Yeo and keeping 6.

Having said that, Karpanny may yet turn into a gun but our track record there isn't great. Undersized, underdeveloped second round picks? Yeah, we've turned all of those into 150 game players lately.

I think a few posters who haven't seen him (or Karps) play much and haven't gone to any effort to get down to East Perth are jumping to some premature conclusions.

You're in for a few years of disappointment if you think teenagers are going to turn it around quickly for us.

Not everyone lives in Perth.

He will live with the tag of being a part of the down grade in picks between #6 and #11. I hope for his sake that he comes on but when you look at who went at pick #6 you start to question our recruitment.

I don't know Dom, but I have worked with his mum for years and you could not find a more down to earth, unassuming (and piss funny!) person. She would tell him to pull his head in if this was the case, as would his three siblings. He actually strikes me as a shy person, sometimes they come off as being aloof but it may not always be the case.

Been to many EP games this year and he is shaping up nicely, he just needs a few more years to mature. Both Karps and Sheed will be long term players for the club. I'm pretty excited about it.

Scharenberg, Aish, Salem and Freeman.

All of whom have proven and achieved nothing for a variety of different reasons. Better question would be to ask where we rated Acres, Dunston ect in relation to Sheed and how we came to those conclusions. But that isn't easy to find out.

Yeo himself could be better than the lot of them, all of these sorts of debates are ahead of us and the writing isn't exactly on the wall.

It's a concern when a kid looks slow. Footballers rarely gain speed.

Looks slow in reading the play and to make decisions.

His football smarts were what he was highly regarded in, yet haven't seen much.

Aish or Scharenberg would have been handy in hindsight, as would Lewis Taylor at 28..
