Won't join the Sheed hate train but I would like to see him hit the score board more.

Few goals or goal assists.

Can't point out negatives without giving the standards he needs to be judged on.

For me with Sheed its work rate and nothing else.
Get his fitness right
If he can start to work harder every thing else will fall into place

Well Said.
He is known as one of our laziest trainers, until that changes and gets a AFL body.
I think he is just going to tread water.
Every big game he has played in his career so far has gone missing ?
With his GF performance the worst of the lot
Nah Elimination Final vs WB was worse

9 touches (1 contested), 1 tackle, 1 clearance

His previous match was a 30 touch game against Adelaide when we rolled them.

Except for a few quarters here and there (eg. second half against Geelong this year) he seems to not be able to match opposition pressure when the heat gets cranked up a few notches.

Not sure it’s only fitness - I worry he just lacks the mental hardness/intensity and doesn’t want to get his hands too dirty.

Hopefully the coaches can turn it around.

Totally agree. Have noticed that it takes Sheed a few games coming back from injury before he starts playing well which is fair enough. When he is fit and played in the correct role he goes alright.

Look at Shuey's last game. I bet the next few will be better.

This is what frustrates me when we draft limited players, particularly midfielders

Sheed isn't a bad player (in terrible form though to be fair) but even at his best i think he's a limited player with the attributes/skills he's got. I'm not saying you have to draft superstars with every pick, but surely with first rounders you at least TRY and nail a gun. Save the 'role players' or real speculative wildcards for later picks. Sheed's snail like pace and agility surely should have been a warning sign for what they'd be getting :noentrysign:

I'm even annoyed we're going to end up using pick 11 turning Duggan into a back flanker. I don't consider that a success :crossmark:

That's after pick 7 on Sheppard for the same thing. Yes Sheppard has become a solid player after so many years, but again, he's just a role player :crossmark:

What do our best midfielders have in common? Sexy Elliot and Shuey both have explosive pace, big bodied and can break the lines, hopefully we can identify that and recruit midfielders accordingly. The Venables pick was a step in the right direction IMO, despite question marks over his durability :heavycheck:

Sheed needs to get shredded. Even our favourite tubby son, Gov, could be a better player if he improved his conditioning.

As much as anything I think this shows how much mental discipline is required to succeed at the top level. Hopefully Dom can find it and push himself to another level.

Sheed putting on more muscle mass would make him even slower.

I always thought getting shredded means putting on muscle.
Nah bro, if you're Shredding for Stereo's it means you're getting as lean as possible.

Not to be confused with Bulking. avishka5 just had a stroke at missing out on being the one to clarify for you.

Sheed is in poor form at the moment but he definitely doesn't lack composure normally. Because he is in poor form he is doubting himself and is getting caught. Every player cannot be a star but he has shown on a number of occasions he is a very useful midfielder and can also kick goals.

Cripps would have been better in hindsight but Sheed (Larke Medallist and kicked 4 in one game I think)was the clear stand out in our 18 team ahead of Cripps. Cripps was a draft bolter to get to 13 and wasn't really thought of going that high.

Good thing for sheed is at least he kicks goals from the midfield. Has kicked quite a few clutch goals on the run in his time.

Think he is just in poor form atm carrying that foot injury. Hopefully he can turn it around in the second half of the season

He was deservedly dropped before the Saints game but got a reprieve when Shuey didn't come up. He didn't do anything against the Saints to suggest he should remain in the side so I was surprised when he did remain after Shuey came back.

He is now a week behind on a spell in the 2s to regain his touch/confidence and both the team and he are in a worse spot for him having played on Friday.

Disagree, he was quite good against the Saints. Had a shocker on Friday though. Will be interesting to see if he survives this week, but wouldn't surprise me if Hutchings comes in for him as there are jobs he can do.

Just to add to my posts about Sheed I don’t dislike the Guy but there are certain aspects of his game that do concern me , and the concern I have actually highlights a trend in his work ethic and commitment.

1. Sheed doesn’t have a tank ( although he is getting better ) he can’t run out a full game of AFL.

2. He doesn’t have a right foot.

Now this may come across as me being a bit of a smart arse but nevertheless here goes.

Having coached Colts and under 16’s I will make a couple of generalisations that I believe are actually trueisms .

1. Any young kid can and must work on their non preferred side . In fact I used to incorporate it, in some way, into every junior training drills at EVERY training secession.
If you work at it , the non preferred skills definitely improve .... dedicacation to this sees players become dual sided .... some better than others admittedly but at the very least it’s a skill set that with continual practice improves .

2. Regardless of your playing ability you can always improve your tank..... no denying that it’s hard work and it’s gut busting. But it’s “doable”. If it’s not natural to you it’s f******* painful and it does test your commitment , that in itself is a lesson on its own.

I am actually gobsmacked that Sheed ( oh and he is far from alone on this ) has come so far in the system with out a right foot , his junior coaches need to be bollocked.

These two aspects of Sheeds game that he is deficient in , endurance and dual sidedness tell me that he is a lazy player and a lazy trainer .

He simply hasn’t put the hard yards in and he has now at the next level been found wanting.

He has been in the AFL system five years now and where he rates amounts his peers on these two areas that can be benchmarked.... simply put is sub par.

I also do not think he has be developed well in our system ..... but that’s another story and gripe in itself .

Speaking of dual sidedness, how good is Yeo's left
