Dom Tyson 2018

Literally all it takes is one injury and he's in.

Think about some of the players missing from the Richmond & Dogs sides in the last two GFs - injury or non-selection.

I'd be staggered if he wanted to go through all the hard times and then leave if not an absolute lock 22 despite being on the cusp of good times.

Jeff Garlett isn't top 22 anymore - nobody saw that coming. Anything else could happen. I like Dom and I'm really happy to keep him.
yep Gartlett has gone from the AA squad to not best 22 in literally 6 games

Or Balic, or VDB, or Maynard, or Harmes, or Lewis, or Jones, or Vince...
Balic is unproven, VDB hasn't played for 2 years and was playing as a forward at that time, Maynard is a VFL player, Harmes is already in the side, Vince and Lewis are close to retiring possibly this year, Jones will most likely be moving out of the midfield towards the end of his career.

If you look at Adelaide, they have quite experienced depth, their injury depleted side was older and more experienced than Melbourne on the weekend. They have still been able to be competitive and win games to keep in touch with the top 4 while not being able to play their best team. They'll get their players back and compete for the 2018 premiership.

If Melbourne is going to be in a premiership window over the next 5 years, we are going to want to have AFL standard depth, if injuries hit then we are going to want to stay competive.

Tyson may have fallen from our best 22 lately, but he has proved he can play quality AFL football. Up to him to get back in the best 22, if not he can be a very good depth player for us at minimum.

Oh yeah we should trade Dom for a 2nd/3rd round pick

And if we get one single injury, Stretch/JKH can cover him in midfield....

Righto because we couldn't bring in hunt or garlett and give more midfield time to Salem/Harmes/Petracca

I think we should trade for Tom lynch in case Hogan gets injured.

Hey! This guy thinks Tyson is as good as Tom Lynch! :P

What Sylvia Saint said is right.

Don't conflate Dom wanting a trade and Goodwin wanting a trade.

Highly unlikely we'd be giving him away.

Somewhat likely Dom asks for a trade.

I would be surprised if he didn’t ask for one if he can’t break the 22 by years end. I’m fine with keeping him because he is much better than VFL level and would probably be the best mid in the afl not currently getting a game, but doubt he is ok with that. Compare his demeanour in the rooms after we beat Carlton to Pedo congratulating each player off the ground against the Crows. Don’t blame Dom for being frustrated btw, just think he isn’t happy atm.

He had a huge game on the weekend, which is a good sign. I want him and Hunt playing out of their skins to break into a side sitting in the top 4, and then whomever they displace trying to do the same, and so on, until we’ve won 9 flags and they get bored

I think some of you are writting Tyson off a little pre maturely.

ala Brayshaw after round 4 this season or OMac last year

You'd be surprised if he didn't ask for a trade? Bloke has been dropped for 2 weeks when we are in our best form of the century with nobody on the injury list...

Look at Miles/Lloyd at Richmond. Players want to be a part of success and will back themselves to prove they're in the best 22 rather than leave at the very first opportunity...

Yeah I’d be surprised because he is a much better player than those tigers you mentioned. Like I’ve already said I want him to stay but reckon he will seek greener pastures if he doesn’t consistently play AFL at years end.

I hope you are right, because an improved Tyson will only make our list and team stronger but in my opinion he is closer to the Jack Watts stage of his career of being a footballer with established strengths and weaknesses rather than the Omac/ Brayshaw stage of starting out and learning one’s craft.

His output over the last 3+ seasons suggests that he has plateaued as a footballer and his deficiencies have been well documented on this board, mainly his dodgy disposal (especially by foot) and that he is one paced. On top of this he is injury prone so any good form he works into is often brought to a halt typically by a two to three week lay off. He is now a luxury standard depth player. He is not in the 22 when Viney, Oliver and Brayshaw are there, but he’s good enough to be best 22 at most afl clubs. It will be interesting to see what transpired with him throughout the rest of the season, but I won’t be surprised to see him traded at season’s end. At this stage he is simply surplus to requirements.

Pfffff geez louise. pick 10 mate? Really? Not a hope in hell i reckon. Id take 28-40 for him just to free up some cap space. Taylor will work his magic so its all good.

Ex GWS player who was a top draft pick? I would be disappointed if we only got a top two pick out of the Blooz.

Mum sent me a message to say that her dog, affectionately nicknamed Dom Tyson, ripped my footy to shreds. I told her she should have expected that Tyson would butcher the footy, but apparently it's still my fault for leaving it lying around

Please don’t forgive my intrusion, but what’s the go with this guy, he looked a class performer a couple of years ago. It almost looked like a vote of no confidence from the coach the way he sat on the bench when the game was on in the last quarter.

Did you see him play prior to it? Absolutely deserved to be sitting there, he was diabolical with ball in hand, although to be fair, it wasn't the way he used it this time, because he was caught holding the ball before he could actually turn it over.
