No. I know a lot of people think it's BS but my ability to disagree with people both left and right of my personal opinions tells me maybe centrism is a real thing. But whatevs.
I would like Australia to take a few more pages out of the Greens book. Chapters even.

Likewise, a few never on the left side (being against racism, homophobia, is NOT a side. It does not count)
Such a ridiculous statement that everybody thinks they are "centrist". Complete bullshit really. All of the Pant wetting Cliquers proudly identify as left of centre. The Greens wouldn't consider themselves Centrist. One Nation wouldn't consider themselves Centrist. Neither would the UAP.

Centrism isn't a point of view. Nor is left or right.
The Left believe in social equality through government intervention and wealth redistribution, which is a more matriarchal led, tribal collective viewpoint. The Right believe in an inherent social hierarchy, claiming that this hierarchy of power is the natural order of things - the patriarchal system.
A centrist believes that there is an inherent social hierarchy but that there should be a social safety net or wealth distribution to ensure that the disadvantaged can climb that hierarchy, but that those who choose not to contribute toward society shouldn't be rewarded for that.

I'm probably nowhere near the left on some issues of crime and punishment. Particularly violent crime getting a slap on the wrist still irks me.
I'd probably be ok with the death penalty in extreme cases, like that ******* in NZ who shot up a mosque, certain acts of terrorism, sadistic child abuse and so on. You'd want certain checks and balances which might make it impractical, but some people honestly forfeit their right to live.
Why should we waste millions on locking them up for the rest of their life when you could just take them out into a paddock, shoot them and chuck them in a shallow grave.

Don't executions end up costing more? At least in the US system, I think I read once.
Anyway, shallow graves are smelly.
I think the one with this is only in the cases where it's a clear cut crime done, that no one can dispute they've got the offender, rather than 'balance of probabilities'. Ie. public crime captured by camera(s) clearly identifying the person(s) with no doubt or DNA evidence AND a confession. An extra burden of proof beyond guilt so there's no way of coming back 10 / 20 years later and 'Oh the witness was lying or didn't identify their attacker correctly, oops too late, sorry about that'.
Yeah I'm not sure if that's true. Lethal injection is probably pricy, but doesn't it cost several hundred k per year to keep someone locked up? Imagine they're in there 50 years. Couple of bullets would do the trick.

I think it's all the litigation and legalities that need to be worked through for execution, more than the um, methods. And those on death row would be using all available appeals and recourse they can get.
