Interesting announcement today with the Blues announcing Don Hanly as their new CEO. In particular as he was the former Saints CEO who would have helped them get Hamill across.

Let's see if he lasts more than a year!

Dees01, Don Hanley is an excellent administrator who was crucified a bit by the Saints and used as a scapegoat, i know he is rated highly by alot of people within the league, lets hope he does well for you guys although i hope they give him more support than they did for Cameron Schwab

Yeah i know, got my wires crossed real bad. DEES01 posting confused me, sorry BEE, but i still reckon he was made a scapegoat at the Saints, i dont think he had alot to do with any of there later recruiting he was pretty much left out of the loop when they started talking to Blight. He is a good pick up for Carlton though.

Don Hanly was an excellent administrator for St Kilda, taking over as CEO when we were in dire financial trouble and leaving with the books firmly in order. I'm sure he will enjoy the challenge of working for a more financially stable club for a change.

Bubbalouis, I don't think he was made a scapegoat at St Kilda at all. Everyone at the club acknowledges the fantastic service he and Andrew Plympton gave to the St Kilda Football Club.

However with the changes that have gone on of late, all positions have been thrown open in keeping with what we are hoping to be the dawning of a new era at the club.

Everyone keeps criticising the club, saying how we should have kept Hanly and Burke as captain, etc. Yet it is often the same people who are criticising the club for not doing enough to change the losing culture of the club.

To be honest, I too am very interested in John Elliott's reaction to his appointment.

Is this the same John Elliott that last year described St Kilda as "a rabble" and "Carlton's reserves team"?

Surely not, with Don Hanly joining the likes of Dean Rice, Matty Lappin, Craig Devenport and Sam Cranage as other saints rejects joining the blues.

Carlton - St Kilda's new reserves team.
