Preview Don Pyke: Season 2019 Prelude

I disagree. It really looked like it was supposed to be a Burton run press conference with Don there as support. Don was letting Burton answer then basically took over when he saw how he was floundering. Without Pyke there that whole media mess would have been twice the shitshow it already was. The contrast between the two show made me realise what we have in Don....and dont have in Burton.

What the sack Burton crowd won't say about that is.....

Most of the jounos were there to cause trouble. Had been feeding their readers bullshit and innuendo. They weren't their for answers, only ammunition.

One thing Don has done this off-season, is something quite sneaky about getting more players down to visit his office. He treated himself to a pinball machine for his 50th. It now sits in his office and a lot of the players are down there regularly playing on it, which means they are chatting with Don as well.
Nah, you can't play serious pinball and chat at the same time. :)

How did you know about the pinball purchase? What a cool self-pressie!

From a tour of the club last month when I got to watch the AFLW training before Geelong, we got taken through most of the downstairs areas. Heading down tonight with my footy club fellow players to watch the girls train again before the prelim.

It's a presser. You prep for that, you work on how you'll answer any questions. There's no point having a press conference just to clam up and act like you've been personally targeted and the world is against you.

He's lucky Pyke was there because Burton makes the club look like a joke any time he's put into any sort of interview with a tough question. It's not about him and his ego, which he seems to want to protect more than anything. Has Burton ever taken any responsibility for 2018? He just gets offended anytime anyone suggests it.

The players have said that they turned up for preseason out of shape. After taking the gf loss hard.

And they had a shortened pre season

So Burton doesn't have the responsibility you're talking Bout. The players have taken responsibility.

Burton has the responsibility in ******* up every players hamstrings from here to Brisbane. He has the responsibility for bringing in, organising and running the Collective Minds camp, he's got plenty of 2018 on his hands.

Pyke has taken responsibility, the players have taken responsibility, but Burton is in the clear?

His current presence (or lack thereof) sats a lot.

"Preseason motto: work hard and have fun".
"Training results have been far in advance than it was last year".
"6-6-6 at the centre bounce will add a new dimension, a genuine 1v1 ahead of the ball".
"We see the return of full fitness with guys like Smith, Brad, Walker and Sloane".
"If we pick for our best 22, with nearly everyone fit and available, who do we leave out and who do we put in? We now have a lot of competition for spots. It's a great position to be in".

Good speech Don! Hopefully we now put the words into action!
Except Mackays spot. He is simply a lock.
