see this sort of crap should be reportable. Unless you are going to share those connections to back up your posts then refrain from posting that information. because naturally everyone will call you on it.

Well Report me

And in the meantime I will post what I feel like posting

All coaches are stubborn

All of us fans talk about a plan b etc however reality is that gone are the days where coaches make a lot of changes on game day or to their game day

All modern days coaches back in their game plan and structures to the point that they fear that moving away from this creates the perception that their strategy is not good enough to get the job done

All coaches are stubborn and only the success coaches survive
There's a difference between being stubborn and being resolute in your thinking. Stubborn means sticking to your plan even when its going wrong, whereas being resolute implies being true to your aims but flexible enough to change your opinion as the situation changes. I know which trait I'd like our coaches to have.

I still have faith in Pyke. His MO is obviously to keep things 'in house' as much as possible. So no overly used cliches or slogans or in fact any real opinion info when questioned by reporters and this results in a lack of chewable information for supporters. And when things don't quite go to plan there is frustration because we cannot assess the how's and where's of the man. But I see him as a good man manager and an experienced football brain. But is as tough and ruthless as he may need to be? His close to the chest manner is unlikely to show this side to us so it comes down to time will tell. What we do need to see is some overt 'toughness' in coaching, training, selection and management that is then reflected on the field in crunch, particularly finals, games. There is just a little too much comfortable ness in the way we have played and 'completed' this season on the face of it. He has to set the tone for this club and we need to be stronger and tougher.

Surely a dream injury run offsets the loss of dangerfield which makes it a year of standing still

Good point. Makes it hard for a new coach though to come in and make wholesale changes to a side that made a semi in the year their coach died. Next year is the true test on whether he believes the current best 22 thats failed in big games is good enough or he is going to bring in milera, menzel and wigg etc to change things up. I do think he will usher in the next generation next year. It would be staggering if nothing changed.

Let's see:
* Introduced completely new game style

* Slow start to year 4-3 at round 7 followed by dominant mid year run

* dream injury run

* Has whole league talking about the way we play

* queries raised about how our game plan will hold up in finals

* results slow towards end of season, raising questions about whether our game plan has been worked out & if it will hold up in finals

* coaching team insist on trusting the system, backing in game plan & players

* exit finals in hugely disappointing fashion having barely given a whimper aside from beating up on an old, has been team

Only difficulty is deciding whether that is 2005 or 2016

Trick question: it's both

cant wait to see the changes he makes, the guy is very smart and apparently quite ruthless in his past business dealings.

Well I hope you are right.

We need to keep players that perform in crunch games and finals and we need to turn our list over to find them regardless of who they are how old they are and how they perform during the minor round.

There are at least 4/5 players I would move on from last nights game and another couple who need to be told to sharpen their skills over the next 12 months.

We need to find 2 gun mids and find them quick before the likes of Tex, Betts and Sloane get in the twilight of their career. I don't see that we have anyone on our list to fill the void and that can give us what the Swans mids hit us with last night.
The Swans mids were hard, ferocious, wanted the ball first and were intense and they did this consistently. We sorely miss these types of players

And as much as we like to think, Sauce is not what we need going forward.

This is not a real question, right? Pyke is Don Pyke. He's not Blight, he's not Craig. He's had a cracking first year, with some mistakes (name me a first time senior coach that doesn't make mistakes). Will be interesting to see how he approaches trades/drafting and ins and outs. Looking forward to next season already!

It's a metaphorical question. Blight embraced change, saw where change was required and implemented immediately. Craig refused to acknowledge any need for change. Get it, metaphoric question!

Change isnt all its cracked up to be. Easy to do after a crap season. Over thought it getting rid of Modra after thinking we didnt need him to win premierships. Probably cost us a 3rd premiership.

there is 1 major difference the 2005 team actually had a chance of winning the premiership when finals started.

Game plan was not the reason we failed in the 2005/2006 finals it was we were not good enough.

I'd be quite happy if we go overboard on change and botch the third leg of our premiership hattrick.
