100% disagree. He saved the club when it was going to merge with Melbourne.
IMO, I suspect Don is after more recognition than he got when he rallied the club against the merger in the 90s. I am old enough to remember him as a player, he was more than serviceable with an agression and enthusiasm which typified the spirit of the game at the time.

Bit harsh:thumbsdown:

Don't think you could be further from the truth.

He's a bit better than this being a member of the AFL's & HFC's Hall of Fame & ruck in the team of the century.

The story of Don Scott's last game is true. IIRC Scott is fighting prostate cancer at the moment.

Im guess im dobbing myself in as a footy show watcher here, and i know a lot of people arent. But they had Don on last night.

I really enjoyed seeing him on TV, its a shame he seems so removed from the game these days, as I think some of our players could benefit from some of his passion and expereince down at the club. I'm not old enough to remember him playing, but I do remember my old man banging on about how good he was all the time when i was growing up

They didnt ask him about his health which was stange, as i know he had a battle with cancer, does anyone know how he is going? looked pretty healthy last nite. :thumbsu:
Scotty is fine and his far removed situation from the big league footy is his own decision.
He is a great champion and a good mate of Sam Newman , but those guys live private lives outside of footy . Sam does the footy show but then disappears , and rightly so.
The era is very different now. Gee even Karl Langdon and Jacko had jobs and that's only in the last 15 to 20 years . Scotty was a seventies player as was John "sammy" Newman.
My era footballers those blokes, when football was real.

Don Scott was one of my favourite players, but he's just like Dermie:

1. On the field: 100% passionate player who lifted for the big games, and was brilliant in Grand Finals; he would give his life to win for Hawthorn.

2. Off the field: a blinking idiot

Just like Dermie ...

.
Don Scott was never a blinking idiot any where any time . He was and is a private individual who absolutely adored the Hawthorn Football club , he's a legend on and off the field . He's a gentleman and someone who does not abide fools for very long.
Quite a lot like John Newman, they are both highly intelligent fellows who probably have a laugh at some of the rubbish that people say about them.
I think they are walking on a rung a couple of steps above the average punter. Never make the mistake of thinking they are silly. FAR FROM IT.
