Tell you what AJ. Seeing as you were so keen to run over here and share, if this is right I will congratulate you on your impeccable sources.

But if you're wrong you will get a day off and get a Port Board ban for spreading scurrilous gossip that has been discussed already.

Good luck ... for one of us.
I just read it on AFL trades on facebook

To those thinking Port were counting on the Grievance Tribual all along, I say 'I hope not.' Seriously, it's a crap shoot. Much litigation is. Thou only go for it if there is asolutely no chance of getting a negotiated solution.
Emma Quayle in her latest article writes Port has spent all week trying to work trades to improve Essendon's draft position. They've all fallen over. Port will continue trying but at some point Essendon has to accept Port gave it their best shot and let Ryder go with their best wishes for what they've put him and his family through.

As per Ford

We've tried

Port Adelaide has endeavoured to set up a number of deals involving complicated draft pick swaps in the past week, aimed at improving Essendon's overall position in the draft order. Richmond, Gold Coast and the Western Bulldogs were all part of various plans that fell through.

The Power also looked at including defender Cam O'Shea into a trade that would have seen him join St Kilda in exchange for the Saints' second round pick, 22.

That trade appeared unlikely on Sunday, with St Kilda wanting to strengthen its draft position, not weaken it, and the Power not trying to force the contracted O'Shea out.

We have legitimately tried to get a trade done. Ryder is worth our pick 17 plus a fringe player with potential. We've put that up, we've even put up players from other clubs but the Bombers haven't been satisfied. They have a clearly deluded sense of his worth.

Can anyone tell me what the board was like last year with Polec??? Were the brissy fans just as nuts? I remember being very patient and confident re Polec last year, so I'm just feeling like it is purely the delusion of the Bombers recruiters and fans that is making this year a little different.

I am not sure about Polec but Ryder was a far superior player as Polec had done little in his 3 years at Brisbane.

Yeah I just don't see Essendon taking Ryder to court if he does go to a grievance tribunal if the trade doesn't go through. It would be an absolute PR disaster. That's not to say that Essendon haven't had plenty of PR disasters, because they've had one almost monthly. That being said, trying to keep a player from leaving after all he's been through, which could potentially force said player into early retirement, would be an absolute nightmare for any publicist to spin. That's not to say Port aren't trying to get a deal done. You never know when the shoe is going to be on the other foot, and for whatever reason, a player may want to leave under difficult circumstances.

I don't remember how often we were told Port pulled the trigger far too early on Lobbe at pick 16 but he's come up alright with a little touch up and a little paint (calling out to RussellEbertHandball ;))
most phantom drafts had us taking him with our 2nd pick. But either Burgatron on the AFL website or Wiseby on the draft and trading board got it right that we would take him at 16.

this latest emma quayle article

hopefully puts the bombers posters in place who've had delusions that we've been trying to screw them over
No chance. They'll just call BS, or ignore it like they do with every bit of media that doesn't support their irrational outlook.

Although, can't say I blame them. They can't trust a single word spoken by anyone at their own club, so why would they believe anyone on the outside.

Yeah. I know. There was someone, I can't remember who, who said that this was all part of a grand plan.

It's obvious that we have tried to work out a trade. It is also obvious that Ken put our first pick out publically as a show to Ryder that we would trade in good faith.

Now, I'm not saying the Greivance Tribunal is not an option. Nor am I saying that its availability should not be factored into our strategy and tactics. It's availability certainly streghthens our hand over a 'normal' trade. All I'm saying is that to have had that as the main option, as some suspect (or hope) we have had all along, would have convinced me that we have reverted to being about as professional as the Informal Society of Unprofessional Hangers-on.

Northern Districts Baseball Club,
Enough is enough! It sounds more and more like we've been bending over backwards to do the right thing and improve the offer to the Bombers. Pick 17 it is and lets move on with any other trades we're looking at over the coming days. Then deal with the other mob post Thursday with the AFL fully aware we've tried to do our bit.

I expect the GT to be the option of last resort and probably not set into motion until after 2pm Thursday.

You say that Essendon supporters are delusional. But at least we can have a conversation about the actual topic. I can't even discuss this without people bring up "ohhhh drugzz'' 'Hird the human needle"
Your off your ****en head. Just because you don't want to face the drug issue, doesn't mean its not there. lol conversation. "Essendon only" so we don't have hear the parts we don't like.
