If they take 17 and 35 but rejected 17 and 21 then it's just out of spite. Great to expose them like this.

Now get the gorringe deal done. I reckon it's going take one of Newton or oshea, or both.
No one has ever said Essendon rejected 17 plus 21 apart from BF posters.
What has been said is that they couldn't work out a trade for 17 that the AFL would accept.

Now, I'm not saying the Greivance Tribunal is not an option. Nor am I saying that its availability should not be factored into our strategy and tactics. It's availability certainly streghthens our hand over a 'normal' trade. All I'm saying is that to have had that as the main option, as some suspect (or hope) we have had all along, would have convinced me that we have reverted to being about as professional as the Informal Society of Unprofessional Hangers-on.
I'm from the Society of Informal Unprofessional Hangers-On. The Informal Society of Unprofessional Hangers-On are SPLITTERS!

I see absolutely no point in trading O'Shea, a player who doesn't want to leave (and until I hear him actually says he wants to leave I'm keeping that) and a proven starting 22 player, for someone who most likely won't be starting off straight in our 22.
And Newton AND O'Shea for Gorringe?! Wah?!

You say that Essendon supporters are delusional. But at least we can have a conversation about the actual topic. I can't even discuss this without people bring up "ohhhh drugzz'' 'Hird the human needle"
"Yes, but besides THAT Mrs Lincoln, what did you think of the play".

If a deal cant be done and Ryder sits out 2015 - what ever a court or the grievance tribunal rules - then he will be the AFL version of Curt Flood. Flood sat out the the 1970 MLB season when he took Commisiioner of baseball to the Supreme Court challenging the Reserve Clause. It allowed St Lious Cardidinals to trade him to the Phiadelphia Phillies against his will. He argued it was slavery.

In a perfect world where Essendon wasn't the football equivalent of Chernobyl:

Port lose: Ben Newton, Pick 17
Port gain: Paddy Ryder

Geelong lose: Pick 35
Geelong gain: Ben Newton

Gold coast lose: Daniel Gorringe
Gold coast gain: Pick 35

Essendon lose: Paddy Ryder
Essendon gain: Pick 17, Daniel Gorringe

In the real world where I have just come from reading the Essendelusion board:

Port lose: Nothing
Port gain: Paddy Ryder

Essendon lose: Paddy Ryder, Dignity
Essendon gain: A lesson in humility

Essendon players are about to see evidence in ASADA's show cause notices that specifically details the use of the banned drug Thymosin beta-4. (thanks scottjr for the link)

If the AFL can tell Sydney not to trade in any players they can tell Essendon to take pick 17 and walk away before it's too late.

Port has tried hard enough for long enough.

17 and 37 for Ryder. Trade Newton to Geelong for 35 (they need a ready made player now Christensen is gone), send that to Gold Coast for Gorringe. Get it done, cause we're past waiting around. Our time is now.
Geelong were talking 3rd round for Newton, and gc will want more than that for gorringe.

That doesnt bode well for Essendon. Interesting this bit of info was leaked. Some of this was in the interim report but some of it wasnt.

Problem is no one tells Essendon what to do.They will fight it in court and if they lose they will appeal. The club is greater than the game in their eyes.

Newton is only not getting a game because our inside mid options are Boak, Wines, Gray and Hartlett. And the third round pick stuff was before they were willing to trade Christensen to Brisbane for 21...and before he put his hand up for trade. Now they are lacking in the midfield, and Newton at 35 is better than any player that will be available at that pick for Geelong IMO.

As for Gold Coast...they are just waiting to see if we can upgrade our second round pick.

What do we actually now so far? In as far as written in an article or two.

Top of my head Geelong has asked about Newton and St Kilda about O'Shea.
Was there something about Young early on?
We know nothing Jon Snow.

Why does everyone think Geelong is the only club interested in Newton?
Several clubs interested in Newts.

I'm praying every night to the gods that he stays. I can't handle another TSW love child leaving #bass #webb #jacobs

So if Rucci's article is anything to go by, Essendon went back to asking for Ollie Wines yesterday. If this is true, I'd love to get my mate Bunk Moreland's opinion on this. He's got his head so far up his ass he couldn't be more oblivious to the entire situation.

Bunk at least admits that no body wants to come to Essendon because they are a shambles, he just defends them to the hilt and believes they should be "fairly compensated" for letting Ryder go given he still has 2 years left on his contract.

That Fishardansin fellow is a completely different kettle of fish (ardansin). When I think of him I think of Robert De Niro's character in the movie THE FAN.
