What's in it for Newton? Goes from a fringe midfielder at Port to an even further fringe player at Hawthorn (albeit more likely to get a go once the Hodge/Mitchell/Burgoyne types retire in 2-3 years) - would he agree to it?
He's gonna have a better chance there than here where he'll have to wait 7-8 years for Boak and Gray to retire...

I cant see that happening.

If Essendon show that we are willing to accept a subpar trade then it opens the door for other contracted players to demand a trade and other clubs will never again offer us equitable trades if they know that we will just bend over on the final day of trade week. Would rather hang onto paddy and get nothing for him to make a statement to other clubs than acccept the soft trade.
Exactly what statement would you be making? We aren't poaching Paddy. He chose to leave and then we became his preferred destination. We are now offering, within our means, what we believe is a fair deal. The only statement you are making is you seem to think you can keep a player who quit after all his trust was exhausted by your club, is that you're delusional. I dont blame Essendon wanting to get the best deal possible but the way your recruiting department parrots on about fanciful trades make them look pathetic and amateurish.

1. I thought the players came first, not making a statement.
2. you won't hang on to Paddy because he has already stated he will under no conditions be playing at Essendon next year.
3. You do the crime, you bend over and pick up the soap. Your player wants to leave because of the shit you pumped into him. You treat your players with subpar care and scream that you aren't being treated equitably. Can you spell hypocrite???
4. PAFC have worked their arses off to give you an equitable trade regardless of whether it is deserved or not.
5. Read points 1-4 over and over until your clubs subliminal hynotic b*llsh*t wears off and you can see clearly that the only people in the football world who don't think we have been attempting to offer an equitable trade are EFC or its supporters?

I don't often agree with AA but they're right that the precedence has been set with Christensen going to the Lions for pick 21, they should do the right thing by Paddy take pick 17 & move on with dignity.

That was a really good pick up for Brisbane add Beams to that & they've had a great trade period, we should just work on getting the Gorringe deal done & not bother budging on pick 17.

As Tribey said a couple of days ago the trade period doesn't exist for our entertainment. It's a once a year window for clubs to do business. If you're bored with it all go outside and fly a kite. It's nice and windy.
Can I just stay on the couch and watch Always Sunny instead?

lol, you said essenbum.
EssenURMUM hahahahahahahah

Man opposition supporters are always going to say delusional things, we aren't perfect either. I think its easier just to accept this and discuss the actual trade at hand instead of complaining about other supporters asking for dumb things.
