I would legit not be surprised in the slightest if some show producer with 15 mins to deadline quickly googled an idea for a song theme, found us and borrowed some ideas and specific songs. In fact I know this goes on having worked in various media. Or they may even be on BF. I know a producer of MKR (IIRC - one of the cookoff shows anyway) is on BF.

Never understood what the go was with The Darkness. Were they supposed to be a serious band, or a parody of the tight pants wearing, long hair having, rock groups?
Don't even think they know. The second album was a strange mix of good honest rock, ballads, jokey lyrics, and over the top songs and vocals.

I have a slightly odd tale to tell. Watching TV up late last night, flicking through channels and land on ABC3 who are just playing repeated Rage filler. Had Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots on so had a watch of that, next up was Paranoid Android so thought this was a little bit of coincidence. Next up was our billy winner Oh Superman and now Im wondering who is ripping off our contest or vice versa. The streak was then broken with moral entry Robot Rock before finally there was some random tune.

Weird.
I remember seeing a weeknight Rage a while ago that featured elusively movie songs.

Okay so it seems you can simply check out the rage playlist on the ABC website.

This goes deeper than we thought!

Played on the same night:
Styx - Mr. Roboto
Kraftwerk - The Robots
Bjork - All is Full of Love

Although, non-'us' robot song were also played:
Tubeway Army - Are 'Friends' Electric?
Michael Sembello - Automatic Man

I was curious too, but because it was one of the repeat ones on abc3, its not up on their list of main ones for the weekend.
Found it on general ABC site for the previous day - they must play it on ABC then again on ABC3 the following night. There was indeed an unbroken run of 9 robo-songs, 7 from our list.

Yeah I just checked the Rage playlist from last night and couldn't see any of those songs there, I don't know if there would be any way of finding out what the repeat playlist was.

Listened to the playlist but yet to vote. Have to say, not the best on first impression.

I know the GF might have influenced it but 20 nominations seems fairly low.
