Have young nieces, thought I was sufficiently prepared! Yeah, nah!

I'm not totally useless though, once you realise she is pretty hardy and I'm not gonna break her!
Congratulations Marklar! Hope your wife is recovering well and enjoy the next 18 years of being wrapped around your little one's finger!

Good challenging round, people have stepped up to the plate.

If you boat whoring campaigners ever vote one of my songs in again, I've got some doozy themes in store for you, it'll make the keytar round look like a walk in the park!!

Congrats mate, but I had to laugh at this post - apparently the dad is exhausted! in sympathy with mum I'm sure!
Poor mum. After going in 24 hours early to prepare for inducement, it was decided best to go for a Caeser. So by the time it happened, she'd had basically no real sleep in over 30 hours. I've never seen anyone more tired! I'm not even sure she could comprehend there was a baby on her chest.

Then when she came back from recovery, so much fluid rushed to her head that one eye swelled up. I told her she looked like Glenn from The Walking Dead after the first hit from Lucille :p

Very similar experience with our first, but the second was extremely quick!

Glad to hear all is well.

After already being 2 weeks overdue my wife went in to get induced on Sat morning. They tried for two days then decided to go the C section My Daughter was born Tuesday morning. Never been so tired in my life. We both were scared to hold her in case we fell asleep.

Welcome to Fatherhood Marklar_33 !!

It sucks! You're gunna love it!! ;) :thumbsu:

Voted. Not a bad round that one. Plenty of metal and rock to satisfy me. Voting wasn't easy i assure you. Billy was and I look forward to seeing people melt over that.

If I get the Billy I won't be surprised either.

Listening to the playlist now and following the lyrics for each song… Some of these noms have a tenuous link at best to the literature which they were supposedly inspired by. One of the noms was based on a movie; not the book. I'm not really sure how I'm going vote with all this in mind. I might be a campaigner or I might cut some slack and just vote for the song & forget about the theme.

See, this is what I was talking about a week ago when we had the 90's "dirty secrets" round and lots of people became really narky about the theme and ignored (or even billied) songs which they thought were "too good" for the theme. (e.g. The Horses.) Are people going to apply the same principles for this round and ignore/billy songs which don't fully embrace the literature theme?

You over complicate things. Just give me 5.

I really can't be arsed analysing all the lyrics to see how well they reference the literature they are inspired by when I know SFA about the literature.

I'm just assuming that if the songs were accepted by the host then they fit the theme so will probably just vote for the songs I like the most.

Without giving away the identity of the song, it was close to being rejected based on this, but being highly familiar with the band's catalogue I know that they are very bookish with many songs to prove it. It would not surprise me at all if the book was the initial inspiration for the song. Besides this, it was way past my bedtime and you campaigners kept sending your PM's, depriving me of sleep and draining me of my sensibilities.

With just over a third of the votes in we have two songs opening up a slight lead over a cluster of songs jostling for a minor position on the podium. One song is a very popular choice for the Billy and four are still sitting on donuts. Will musical integrity win out this round, or will the evil forces of bote whoring reign supreme?

I think you should vote based on theme adherence - it might be the only way I will get any votes! My nom is pretty obviously related if you look through the lyrics, and it actually clearly references another pretty well known piece of literature which I forgot to mention to the host.

To be honest I didn't give votes to The Cardigans or Crash Test Dummies in the 90s round because I didn't think they fit the theme, but I didn't really analyse this list before giving my votes. Might give it another listen tonight and update my votes if necessary.
