Just in the Adam Donohue will be picked up by Geelong with it's last selection.

No other bidders. Great news for the Cats.

Yep excellent news. The new F/S system actually pays off for us.

He's a small defender, with good pace and a long kick. So he'll fill a need for us when Callan leaves.

I'd expect us to have 4 selections in the draft, and to try and draft Scott Thompson with a 3rd. That means we'll probably have to trade / delist 6 players with the promotions of Davenport and Lonergan or Grima.

It wouldn't have last year.

There would be a fair chance that somebody before pick 7 would have placed a bid for Tommy, meaning we would have had to use pick 7 on him, missing out on Selwood.

I liked the idea of getting the F/S for basically nothing :D

since turbocat posted that, alledgedly adam hasn't really grown much so he isn't the key prospect he was. Fourth or our third rounder is probably around his true worth.

I think its fantastic.

Last year all other clubs whinged because they thought we were getting an unfair advantage from a system which was EQUAL FOR EVERYONE, and promoted rich club culture. Yet we still see clubs who accept failure and tanking get promoted with priority picks.

Now that the rule has been changed, we are the first club to reap the benefits. Awesome!

The fact that no other clubs bidded for him indicates something:confused:

Does this mean we will definetly take him, because what is to say there want be better options for us with our last pick!!

I may be wrong, last pick may be a bargain for Donohue, but lets not get carried away just because he is a father son. (he isn't a Ablett or Scarlett or Hawkins)

Can someone post a little about him please, or where to look...
I posted this in the earlier thread:

182cm, 82kg. Played the bulk of his junior career as a forward, but has since been transformed into a half-back flanker with the Falcons. Bottom-aged this year, but nonetheless made the initial squad of 40 for Vic Country. Really worked hard on the body; cut off alot of puppy fat to certainly look the part of a footballer now, but still is a fairly solid lump of a lad.

His disposal is clean, play-reading is great off the half back, moves well, a footy-smart kid.

Averaged around 19 disposals, 6 marks, 2 tackles, and close to 5 handball receives a game. Booted 11 goals from 16 games, and named in the Falcons' best 6 times during the season.

There's also this thread which detailed most of his season with the Falcons.

What are you doing comparing him too Ablett and Scarlett, the kid is only 17 and these guys are in the prime of there career. Just remember no one rated these two when they were picked up and look how good they have turned out.

Agreed. People assume that Ablett, Scarlett etc. would have top ten picks if they hadn't been F/S, which simply isn't true.

To the people that have seen him play, how would you rate hime? Is there a chance he could be like selwood and play in the seniors or will he be in the vfl for a year?

I hope he gets a chance in the NAB cup.

More comparing their respective dads, Larry was the Kent Kingsley of his day.

Kent was never capable of kicking the ton.
However like Kent he was 'scapegoated' when the going got tough...

You will find like any forward relying on supply Larry had his best seasons when we made finals...'76 and '78...funny how all of a sudden forwards are responsible for all the ills in the world one poor year to whenever is the next poor season for a side...

No one hold their breath please. I and many others who have watched him play believe he isn't AFL material. Has already developed physically and could only grow with muscle mass. He use to post on BigFooty regularly as "Buck2323" and started creating threads about himself. Heard him on the radio this morning and said the usual thing of "wish to play a senior game next year but I think they will develop me in the VFL".

However, good luck to him...
