The conflicting issue I see is we have two well credentialed people for the one position deserving of higher roles.

Usually list managers are mushrooms and you dont hear much from them.

Here we have Bond and Lloyd both with high profiles and only one top footy position.

Something will need to give, either one leaving the club or moving to a non footy role within Freo.

Yeah, you would think that they both have higher aspirations for their futures so, unfortunately, it makes sense for them to consider accepting higher positions at other clubs some time down the track.

Probably saving us is that we are possibly close to a cup, once thats achieved everyone is sorta off the hook and free to go elsewhere.

The other issue I would see is Lloyd being based in Melbourne, does not want to move to Perth. Bond being in Perth could move sideways or diagonally however you want to describe it.

Could Lloyd run football from Melbourne?

I would think not.

I would swap that order; Chris Bond was the instigator of getting Ross and pre Ross Lyon, he set the new high standards of achievement in the club's football department.
As for Essendon, I think they will have problems for quite a while with their reputation and any high calibre management targets who already have respectable roles with other clubs, would be wary .
IMO , Paul Little is the last person who should be the head of that club. It is the worst possible time to be controlled by a ruthless businessman who believes he can stomp his way through any crisis.
The higher the remuneration offer to potential managers, the worse it looks for Essendon. They will be seen to be whoring themselves until they demonstrate they have truly changed; that means a full clean out from the past.

Hang on Fred. Are you saying you'd rather lose Lyon? More so than Bond? That's a pretty big call Chris Fred.

No not at all. I just went back and re-read the post I was responding to ; I did not notice the "least like to lose" bit.
I was merely ranking them in terms of contribution which incidentally is difficult. I wouldn't want to lose either of them; they are dynamic.

To be perfectly honest, not sure why any coach in their right mind would want anything to do with Essendon until they've had a serious administrative clean out.

Why wouldn't you want to coach Essendon? You can do absolutely anything you want, to the point of nearly destroying the club, and the worst punishment you'll cop is a paid holiday.

At a prestigious international educational institution no less.

The whole "Hird" fiasco, and some of the mindless defence of him by some, is what pisses me off more than anything in this saga.

Great, wonderful champion of a player - as a person I am not so sure.

Buckley cops the FIGJAM tag with good reason, however Hird, to me at least, has taken it to a different level altogether.

This whole fiasco has cast a shadow over his playing career too imo.

The fact he enlisted Charter during his playing days to give him 'dietary advice' is a tad suspicious. I'm sure it's just a coincidence that Charter happened to be a pharmaceutical rep.

Yeah, I know, I just don't want to go there. I loved him so much as a player and to consider that he may have "gone there" is heart-breaking for me.

Don't worry, I'm not naive enough to believe that he was/might have been on his Pat Malone.

:(
