Deal as close to as done as possible apparently from 'good sources close to Collingwood'

* Blake Caracella for Heath Scotland and 2nd round pick

More possible than some of the other wild rumours mentioned I suppose

Me too.

Scotland is ok (I'd rather get rid of Holland) but Caracella can win games. Good swap for the Pies especially if we lose Davis.

Caracella is all Essendon and would only be let go if Essendon could get a REALLY favourable deal.

Caracella (or his manager) is asking for a 60% pay increase to become the 3rd highest paid player behind Hird & Lloyd while all his teammates have been taking pay cuts in recent years

He won't be at Windy Hill in 2003 unless he (or his manager) comes to his senses

Dunno why Collingwood would want to get rid of Scotland. Given his oppurtunities he has been very good this year. He's on his way to becoming a very good consistent midfielder. I'd have him at Port anyday.

Why?

Trading a mid-speed midfielder with silky skills for a mid-speed midfielder with developing skills.

Essendon should go after Tarkyn Lockyer before Heath Scotland. We need pace. And plenty of it (Unless Fraser's on the market?:D )

I don't really want to be paying Caracella mega bucks.

Scotland is a guy I have pushed for selection for, for the last three years and he has finally got his chance and did pretty well this year. He doesn't have any stand out attributes (excellent kicking to leading players perhaps) but gets enough of it. He'd be asking for a pay rise, but it wouldn't be anything ridiculous I would have thought.

I like Caracella, don't get me wrong, but I think it would be dumb to include him on our list as the second highest paid player. We have kids who will be pushing that salary cap hard over the next few years (McGough, Cole, Didak, Lonie etc.). Then again, not having Nick Davis on our list might just make it feasible.

Who knows??

I can't see the sense in this trade. Scottland is a decent player on the improve. He is replacable at Collingwood and tradable. He has very good skills and is a ball getter. We have a few in that catagory though. If was a little quicker he would be an untouchable because we do not have a super quick midfield.

The problem is that we don't need a Caracella type. He adds nothing to our midfield and we have more small forwards than we can fit in the side as it is. I suspect if this trade rumour is actually based on fact, Collingwood may be over reacting to the loss of Nick Davis.

I am not having a go at Caracella, but we just don't need him.

Collingwood should be trading to get draft choices in order to put a deal together to get a ruckman. Trading to get Caracella would, in fact, decrease our chances of getting a ruckman because we have less tradeable players, less salary cap available and we assist Essendon, who are also seeking a ruckman, by freeing up some of their cap.

All in all I think this is a bad deal for Collingwood.

Wouldn't think this would be a favorable deal for the Dons, if Caracella is out pricing himself forcing the Dons to trade him I would hope we would get a better deal than this.

If it's true Caracella thinks he is the 3rd best player on our list he is kidding himself.

The more I think about this trade the more I don't like it. Scotland may not be one of Mick's favoured players but I still prefer him to Carracella.

deal - It'd be a damn shame, but if Cara wants to go for the $$$, let him.

I'd much rather lockyer than scotland....
We'll just have to teach locky how to kickout from goals though...
:p

We have too many consistent midfielders that aren't fast but are consistent, Licuria, O'Bree, McGough, and so the list goes on. I recal Essendon showing interest last year when there was talk of us delisting him. I think it's a win win trade, the pies need a Caracella type, and bombers need to get under the cap.

Lockyer is a better than Scottland and I think Scottland is a good player. I agree Lockyer should not be vice captain though. Burns or Rocca for mine. Lockyer is a very good player though.

He did give it to our players enough though in round 20 that you'd think he was on our side.:p
