Losing your best player may not make too much difference to you.

Look how well West Coast are going after losing Judd. :D

Chins up lads :p

LOL!

i reckon his absence will be felt more in the CL, but in the league he only scored two goals away from old trafford ... so i reckon they're still good for a top 2 finish next season. whether they clinch first or second depends on who they sign this summer.

I will take the bait -

Lets remember that in SAF's time he has off loaded players such as Ince, Hughes, Kanchelskis, (enter Mr Hansens now famous quote) Stam, Beckham, RVN.

Other players have gone quieter (I had this very same feeling when Cantona announced his retirement) but the side has always been reinvigerated.

SAF has a happy knack of knowing when the player has had his time at Old Trafford.

11 Titles in 17 years emphasises this point.

There is at least 80 million reasons that suggest United will be up there challenging again.

Stam, Beckham, RVN were all fairly big losses but they could be replaced.

Ronaldo is a once in a generation player. United got a shitload of money but Sir Alex won't be able to buy anyone capable of filling Ronaldo's position.

Agree that not 1 player can fill the void but 2 or 3 of quality could.

This could also be what Rooney needs. He has sacrificed his game for the cause of the team to accomodate Ronaldo, now he will be the number 1 player at United.

Ive always said this as much as Ive hated the grease ball
Ronaldo will be irreplaceable at United unless they buy Messi.
He was their free kick taker
Threat from set pieces
Shot taker
Diver
******

United always relied too much on this guy now its going to be great to see how they do without him. IMO unless they buy a Ribery type they wont feel the loss as much but if they don't buy a class winger and keep Nani youll feel the full impact of letting the greseball go.

He's definitely replaceable in the long term, it's just what will happen in the next 12 months that will be interesting. Someone will step up, they always do at big (in your case gay) clubs.

What a great thread.

We'll be grand folks. Thank Christ we still have this bloke

;)

I was expecting it to be Scholes or Giggs.

You guys are a Rooney injury (or brain explosion) away from mid table scrubbers.

If LFC hold their squad. The wait is over.

Yeah.. I'm sure losing you're best player and getting 80M for him is the same as losing your best player and getting Josh ****ing Kennedy and Masten.

To put it in soccer terms, that's like giving up your best player for Lucas and Darren Bent. :thumbsd:

Doesn't help that we lost our second best player as well and that our team went to shit, while ManU doesn't look like imploding.

I wonder how many scousers have...........

I think you and whisky nose have every right to be frightened of the scousers.
Getting smashed twice last year and then losing Ronaldo must really have you worried. :o

At least you have qualified for next years CL.

It is funny that Liverpool fans think that they are guaranteed to win the title now. Had to wait for us to lose one of the best players in the world though.

If United don't win it next season then Chelsea probably will. Liverpool will be bridesmaid again.

I'm surprised they can see the screen for all the spunk they have blown all over it. Imagine how ****ed the Bindippers would be without Diver Gerrard or Torres?

I agree that the main winners out of all of this are Chelsea. Hiddink seems to have sorted out the undermining that was occurring behind the scenes at that particular football club and that can only ever be a good thing for Chelsea going into next season. Liverpool have an unhealthy reliance on two of their star players and when one of those players is heading in the same direction injury wise as Louis Saha, you don't have the required ingredients to win the premiership.
