The point of Mcleod playing in this game tomorrow night. Why? Isn't he coming back a month too early from knee surgery. This wouldn't happen if he was playing for the Crows. He always makes himself available for these type of games despite being nowhere near 100% fit. Don't agree with this. And the concept of taking it easy against him is a load of crap. He shouldn't play if he's not fit.

The game means a lot to him and the medicos say he cant do further damage by playing. So why not play, better than a training session.

Then why all this "Go easy on him" is coming out from the Crows camp? I know this means alot to him but surely playing Round 1 for the Crows and being fully fit is more important.

Do you think he would play if we were playing another AFL team?

If he wasn't 100% fit, the Crows wouldn't allow him to play - he could've begged and begged, but the club would've had the last say. He's only allowed to play half every quarter and they'll keep an eye on the knee all through the game. But I swear, if he does serious damage to it, I will be FUMING! I'll be fuming if any of our players get injured actually...

Just to be on the safe side?

I guess its just a 'Don't lay a bone crunching tackle on him'.

I reckon he'd be basically be fully fit anyway. The Crows wouldn't be soft on him, if they didn't think he was up to it, I seriously doubt they'd let him play.

He's in the twilight of his career and his heritage means a lot to him. It may be his last chance to represent the aboriginals of the AFL. Let him do it, he wouldn't be doing it if he weren't fit. Anyway, it frees up a spot in the Adelaide side for a young guy who wouldn't have played if McLeod was a Crow tomorrow night.

Thats why i don't think it's right. Touch wood...............

I agree. He should not be playing. He has represented indigenous players on many occasions and in many ways and I don't think in probably his last year he should be pushing his injury like he obviously is. He could be an assistant coach for the match. His mere presensce in Darwin would lift the All Stars.

He is probably being a little selfish here, but perhaps he's entitled. I am not upset about him playing but all things being equal I just don't think he should.

Yeah, but a fully fit player can get injured in a matter of seconds.
Who knows - Taylor Walker could go down with a knee and be out for the season, or knowing our luck with ruckmen and their knees - Ivan Maric could. Touch wood none of that happens!

But the club can't just keep players wrapped in cotton wool until the actual season starts. Something could happen to McLeod at Crows training - the last training session I went to, Aaron Kite was taken off on that ambulance car because he got a concussion. Then again, something stupid, like jumping on the back of a moving car and breaking both hands, can happen as well. And a stupid injury I got in 2007 was that I broke my thumb opening a door. Moral of the stories: the club can't prevent players getting injured, if they could, it would be great but it's not possible.

Dumbest thing.. seriously.

Edit - not talking about the thread :p but playing Macca is just stupid. He's gonna get injured, I know it.

Look if a fit player goes down then thats just bad luck (lets hope this doesn't happen). Injuries happen whether it be pre-season or the premiership season. But rushing a player back so he can play in a game because it means alot to him is a bit selfish (as Jars458 mentioned) i think. I just think its not the right type of game to risk a quality player like Macca. If we were playing a trial against another AFL team, i bet you anything Macca wouldn't be playing.

They're not rushing him back! If it was a game during the H&A season, I'd guarantee you that he'd play. And one thing Macca isn't is selfish! McLeod was an aboriginal LONG before he was a Crow - so the club would be selfish if he was ready to play and they stopped him " just in case the knee flared up". It's not as if he's coming back from a reconstruction. Were you complaining when Porplyzia played even though his shoulder was absolutely screwed last season?? Same situation - he couldn't do anymore damage and neither can McLeod.

Trent Hentschel put his hand up to play too, but the club has the final word. If Macca wasn't ready he wouldn't play and I have plenty of faith in our fitness staff. Don't think Trench wouldn't have had great motive to play as well, being a NT boy.

The significance of representing your race is very important to indigenous Australians.

He wouldn't risk it if there was a lot of risk, but this game is very important for Macca.

McLeod has been a magnificent player for the club however in recent years I have noticed that it isn't about the club anymore but more about himself. Yes, I know he has earned it but by god, he better not go down tonight especially if it is later found out to be that he came back too early.

This may seem obvious but if a player said he was fit and he did all the drills etc even if was creating some discomfort but he didn't show it, yet he wasn't fully fit how would the club doctor know? McLeod may not be 100% but because it is this game he is putting his hand up to play.

A more ridiculous statement I've never read about Andrew McLeod. He has "earned" the right? pffft. If there is one thing I would say about Andrew McLeod is that he is ALL about the Crows - he is as passionate a Crows man that you could find... and he is also very proud of his heritage. There is NO way he'd play if his knee wasn't right. And if bad luck happens to strike and he does get injured, so be it. For heavens sake it could happen in round 1 or training.

Fancy calling this legend of our club selfish.

You fail at life and as a true Crows supporter if you think that McLeod is selfish and would jeopardise his career/the Crows as a team to play tonight. He would not play if he wasn't 100% confident that he wasn't going to risk re-injury from returning earlier nor would the club allow it.

Very very harsh. One is entitled to an opinion. Being selfish is a human thing that we all do at various times in our life. You think McLeod is above being selfish at times?

Not at all. No one is. I'm sure McLeod has been selfish plenty of his times in his life. Its also very very harsh to say that over the last few years he has been all about himself and above the club without any substantial evidence. Personally I think the response was warranted. Infact the amount of times he has played when he could of ended his season to get his knee right for the benefit of the club is the exact opposite of selfish. I still stand by the fact that if there was ANY doubt he wasn't ready to play the other night, he wouldn't have.
